He doesn’t need this job or the UCLA job

He could go anywhere he wants. He knows that and the entire college football industry knows it. If I was him I’d be asking for everything too. That is the beauty of having leverage so props to him for using his position to get what he wants

 

if we've moved on from kelly and frost takes the job in lincoln, we better pay matt campbell's buyout.

would take campbell over everyone but kelly. has an excellent 7 year track record. has turned around and won at p5 iowa state. i think campbell ends up in lincoln if we get frost.

 

I already consider it a botch job. Things are still proceeding the way I expected.

Kelly pushing “too far” means the UAA isn’t willing to commit to winning big. They have proven the last 8 years that their way is a failure. Let’s not act like Kelly was asking for virgin sacrifices. This attempt at saving face is insulting.

 

Because otherwise there were about 13 million reasons Mac would have gotten a fourth year despite everyone's strong distaste in the UAA. He may have left of his own accord at the end of the season, but maybe he wouldn't have. Then what?

Bit of a false dichotomy there that the choices were either fire him then or at the end of the season.

 

If we don't get Kelly we will pursue other candidates. Sound familiar?

I'm going to be the one to say it: This sounds like damage control. Kelly chose UCLA, and we're trying to put it on him.

I'm an optimist, but all of us said that if this stuff starts to come out, our goose is cooked. This is bad news.

 

I thought so also , back at the beginning, but there was no way to tell if it was rumor or true.

I am not caught up on this thread at all, so can't form an opinion on what is speculation and what might have legs.

If Kelly is jerking us around and Frost is available, I would much rather have Frost.

What I've read about Kelly's personality does not sit that well ,imo with Gville community, and I suspect he might not like the lack of privacy moving around here.

Frost is younger and I think can relate better to both players, families, and community. I would much rather have him than a sarcastic coach that isn't really into being here. And frankly, once he experiences summer time practices and August, September games, I would not be surprised if he just decided he was done with this place. Northerners cannot fathom the heat and humidity levels here. They think they know humid heat, but it's not what we have. He is not going to be prepared for it.

If Frost is available and willing, I think we are better off with him, even though I did get excited about the Kelly name being attached to the school. Players seem to relate to him also, not just be awed by his pedigree as with Kelly.

 

For all we know he might have taken the UCF job to establish recruiting ties and wait for a GREAT SEC job top open up.

this is my point. people still have faith in the uaa and i have no idea why. they've screwed up far more often then not and even when they do something right its usually years late.

it actually makes me laugh that people think we're going to pull frost.

 

Backing out implies there was some sort of "deal/agreement" in place...akin to what he did with the Bucs several years ago. Is UCLA going to give him a better than good enough to be accepted offer??

 

What type of control is UCLA offering that we are not?

You either offer the farm or you don’t. If UCLA is giving him more control then we clearly did not offer the farm to a top 3 CFB coach.

 

If we offered the kitchen sink and it want enough then I'm good with him going elsewhere as uf did what they could. I am just tired of all this and want a new hbc that we can be happy/excited about again. The last 7 years have been miserable to watch.
