If that scenario happens then this thread will blow up. Only way it slows down is if CK is announced Sunday.
You are reaching on your argument he has a .500 winning percentage in the SEC. I'll concede he can't beat Bama with MSU talent even though a great coach should at least once in 9 years, hell even Nugh F beat the gumps twice. So tell me what happened with all the rest of his SEC loses? For all of the posters who ascribe some magic to winning at a different school because of recruiting, history, etc when a coach underperformes at his present school a applying wishful thinking. Your record is your record. Mullen would be the equilivent of Richt win 9-10 and always miss on the big one. FTR Kentucky 1976
After being led to believe we were getting Chip, Mullen would be a let down with no bang. Not because he can’t coach, but because we were so close to landing an offensive genius
So i do some traveling and i come back to “Dan Mullen is a great at this and great at that”. Wtf ? He wasn’t our first choice or our second choice, but now we are singing his praises?! He still isn’t a fit here! If Frost is no and Kelly is no, go get Campbell at Iowa State. Jeez, anyone but Mullen please!
As I said before, if (and a very big if) some bizarre loyalty to Randy Shannon costs us Chip Kelly, then our athletic admin is a joke and RS has finally gotten his revenge. I sincerely hope this is not the case.
Plus, if he had I Madison connection, he'd probably be flying out of (I sh*t you not) Bruce Campbell Field. I know Hawkins does house more planes, but Campbell does more flights and might have a bit wealthier clientele.
No more impossible or improbable than Utah running the table and waxing an OU team in the fiesta bowl. In this age of parity and scholli limits more teams can compel and succeed. Keep in mind MSU mines the Juco system in Miss and they get great talent that was passed over by many other power 5 teams. Mullens record is a reflection of his offense and the need for a "big" QB that can run and throw we know those guys are a dime a dozen, smh
I am not on the Mullen train. I seem to remember some discussion that SS and Mullen didn’t work well together. Was that ever verified?
Why are we talking about flights??? Thanksgiving tomorrow i know coaching searches are a big deal but everyone will be with family tomorrow and nothing will be done towards Florida or ucla come on...
Didn't Ole Miss lay out a good bit of cash for Hugh F's recruiting classes though? Mullen at least turned down Cam and not pay into his Dad's church fund. I think Mullen did pretty well in the SEC West as it had been very strong during his tenure...Bama, Auburn, LSU, Miss, Texas A&M were no pushovers in that timeframe. With Mullen you know what you are getting, a hard nosed football team. Having said that, it would be a disappointment if he is our HC after expectations of Chip or Frost. It would be the pit of misery on this forum for eight months before the first game. We would have a divided fan base again.
Did Saban "underachieve" at Michigan State? Saban averaged 6.75 wins per season at Michigan State...and jumped to a new level with LSU talent. Mullen has won 7.6 games per year at Missy State, and is "underachieving"? Being the best coach in the history of a school is not underachieving. Everyone talks about the "next Saban", but at Mullen's age, Saban was scraping by at East Lansing.
I will be disappointed in Stu Stickenheimer if it's not Kelly or Frost. Especially with all of the Kelly chatter we've been hearing.
