yup. And there is a reason our AD has been so open in discussing Frost publicly. I don't think Frost is really on the table for UF at this point. Not sure who your plan C would be referencing but would assume its either Norvell or Strong
Campbell is not quite proven. Dude is not an Elite coach...good coach but not elite..rather have Mullen.,, you are what your record is
I stay away from this thread for the evening and now all this UCLA crap has started up again?! Where did this come from?! One more time ill say if Kelly wasn't sure of being at UF, don't you think he'd have called us and told us not to fly our closing team up to NH?
You hit two key points (whole post was solid btw). 1st key point, HYPE TRAIN. Hype hype hype, the thing UF football has been synonymous with lately is shitty offense. Our team is still crap right now, but THIS is the big story. From a media guy standpoint, why not let it keep building? 2nd key point, people writing off SS as a failure or saying he should be fired haven't even allowed him the chance to fail yet lol. Great post Sulla!
kind of a close minded approach Campbell ended up at a school that had arguably the 2nd least talented team in the entire Big 12 beating out only Kansas. He has 3 or 4 wins over top 10 teams this year. Sure, they arent world beaters but context is important, they lost their QB1 after the 4th or 5th game. they beat oklahoma while using a linebacker at QB after I think their other starting QB went down during the game.
Spurrier is done. He doesn't have the desire to grind anymore. He's earned his retirement. C'mon, dude, we're not pulling the offer anytime soon.
It should be standard practice now for anyone reading this thread to read pages 700-714. All your answers are there. You are happy and you dont even know it.
so this leaves Norvell and Campbell. And based off who you've advocated for... EDIT: maybe not advocated. But at least posted about in high regard.
The only Plan C I would like is Taggert. Not that my opinion matters the slightest bit. But the list of coaches Florida fans want is pretty slim 1) Kelly 2) Frost 3) Mullen 4) Taggert And Taggert is kind of a long way down as 4. After Taggert, Stricklin has lost the fan base. Norvell? Riot. Lane would make people laugh but for the most part piss off most of the fan base. Again I havent mentioned Campbell because I really dont see anyone paying his buyout
One more day at the office before a 5 day weekend...hitting the hay fellas. West coast crew....you're up.
I'm familiar with Taggart. I actually think the world of his DC, Jim Leavitt (who, as you know, is also a former Bull and would be a HC today if not for that whole hitting a player incident). However, Taggart strikes me as more of a Les Miles or Mark Richt than an Urban Meyer or Nick Saban. We can do worse. I'm just not overly excited by him. He's a great recruiter. He's a solid coach. But he doesn't strike me as a guy who pushes us to the top. I guess if we lose out on Kelly and Frost, a potential Richt or Miles is better than nothing. I'd call what Strong did at Louisville turning that program around. Steve Kragthorpe ran it into the ground.
C better not stand for Charlie. He's doing okay in the second-tier AAC but failed on the big stage at Texas, which is a situation more comparable to ours. I bet Scott Frost shows him up big time on Saturday, which will then make it look like we're settling for a fallback option if we hire Strong while Frost goes elsewhere or stays at UCF.
