Update: Kelly buzz..."The Thread" Hall of Fame bound.

I think we finally got a guy who gets it, which is an incredible relief. If this goes the way it should SS is verifiably the man, and will not be questioned by me ever again for as long as he's part of UF

 

Its all good man this has been stressful for everybody, we all just want our Gators back, and Gator Football at least on my end brings out the inner child in me. Good and bad

 

That line that Dooley says the Niners info is news to Florida if true is idiotic. They didn't do their due diligence and not know what ramifications was in the 49ers contract. Cmon Dooley. There should be nothing out there that should be news to Florida at this point after going all-in.

 

I think we have a guy who has the benefit of seeing what happens when you gamble with unproven assistant coaches and small school HCs. That's not always a bad thing(Urban Meyer) but he knows we can't afford that type of gamble if avoidable. Foley, god love him, was a bit cavalier, perhaps even full of himself.

 

This may be obvious to most, but mark my words: if thing ain't done (and mean fat guy at the Gator podium done) within 24 hours after the FSU game, then it's not happening period. I'm already in partial acceptance of that eventuality.

I wonder if there's a chance that to avoid losing millions he has to wait until January 1 in which case we almost certainly keep Shannon and staff in tact to recruit. Don't know, just crossed my mind.

 

Right now I’m thinking we probably have some sort of verbal commitment from Chip, with ink to paper being reserved for this weekend/Sunday.

I think he does his ESPN gig on Sundays, so maybe Sunday night or Monday morning for a announcement.

 

I would push that to 48 hours...i can see the podium being Monday.....but i would think things would start leaking Saturday or Sunday.

 

Caught up and noticed a bunch of turkey talk. Controversial opinions:

1) Smoked is the best turkey.
2) Spatchcocked/butterflied is the only way to make truly good smoked turkey.
3) Unrelated but beer can chicken is stupid. It’s science (literally, look it up).

 

He doesn’t want him to come because Chip won’t be his buddy.

 

this would involve doing some math on what a signing class could cost you.....is it worth making up the cash to get the recruits signed? I don't know that answer.

 

The implication is that no such stipulation exists, not that Florida is unaware

 

Could very well be into Monday/Tuesday not that it's going to calm anybody's nerves to hear that.

Only way I could see it fall apart is if all this chatter and appearance of a deal before there really can be one somehow voiding Chips buyout clause and putting his money at risk.

Chip Kelly wants to be here, and our guys want him here too. They have agreed to terms, Chip never met with UCLA and no other team is pursuing him, and we are not pursuing any other candidates.

I would bring to you the idea that the national media and old gaurd publications Dooley/Forde etc are being given or knowingly distributing false info about Florida broading search etc to perpetuate the elusion that this is an ongoing search.

And if you think the stress ends when Chip takes the podium, just wait until the Corral vs Fields/Emory Jones saga is reignited with Chip prefering the two not currently committed to us.

 

Beer can chicken is delicious, but in the same way a brined bird properly roasted on a vertical rack is delicious. It has nothing to do with the beer in my opinion. I actually use aromatics and water in my can.

 

Yeah that's untenable and I doubt Kelly would have any signed something like that.

 

For all the success that his various coaching hires brought to the school, I saw Foley in some respects as a, "There are more important things than winning games," type of guy. Which is a mindset I don't necessarily mind as a general matter, but it's not the one I want my school's athletic director to have.

We've got a whole campus full of educators, counselors and administrators whose jobs are to focus on the stuff in life that's more important than winning games. Can we have ONE guy whose job is just to facilitate our sports teams getting as many W's as possible?

 

I’ve yet to see anyone legit say the 49’ers thing is even a rumor. Buddy Martin made it up as a guess.
