I’ve heard this a few times. Can someone explain to me why he took the Philly job then? Not only a fishbowl but a notoriously vicious fanbase. This reeks of the “bad recruiter” assumption about him.
Why would they expect Kelly to sign anything without his agent being present? That is the whole purpose of the agent. Consider my original post - the contract is signed later. Press conferences announcing new coaches are held before contracts are signed. Contracts get hashed out between both parties for weeks afterward. They likely flew there and took the prez to get Kelly to verbally commit, which he had yet to do with SS via phone. It was a hard sell trying to make the best impression possible. It looks like Kelly is still deciding.
Its what I said earlier... That all this UCLA stuff that came up when Mora was fired just turned into a huge gossip monster and took on a life of its own. It very well may not have had anything to do with last night and CK is signed.

I don't think Andy is a Gator hater. Knew him personally back in the day. He believes in reporting facts as he sees them.
I don't think Staples hates UF. He simply works real hard at attempting to distance himself from UF, his alum, in order to appear impartial to the national audience. At times he over does it, making him seem like a hater.
For the millenials on here, Andy Staples played for Florida so he's not hating on us with his position that UCLA is a better fit for Kelly than UF.
Maybe not a Gator hater but like most reporting alums they tend to be more skeptical about their Alma mater so that they appear unbiased. It comes across as haterade though.
There is no doubt this was on CK/agent's radar all along. Agent's job would be to have CK at least hear out UCLA, so none of this should be a surprise. Also isn't the death knell for UF , nor CK 'playing' UF. If you take out the roller coaster of expectations and intewebz rumors: Kelly apparently has a substantial offer on the table from UF, and has a high level of interest.
