Baseball vs. LSU in Omaha, Mon 6/26, 7:00 pm

How many innings could F go since he's pitched last Saturday? That's over 3 day's rest. What do they do in the MLB do pitchers require 4 or 5 day rest? I feel we are at a disadvantage pitching wise, for LSU can use both their top pitchers while we won't be able to fully use F.

 

We beat LSU 2/3 but we had perfect pitching rotation back then. Now, we won't see Faedo unless it's DEFCON1. We better win Game 1 or there won't be a game 3. LSU in game one has to cobble together a pitching staff, then Poche is ready for Game 2, where they should be the favorites since we now have to cobble a pitching staff together. Then in Game 3, LSU will start their ace, Lange vs Kowar, which the advantage is again LSU. Had we won the Friday game, then I would say the advantage is ours, 2/3 games. In this case, LSU is favored 2/3.

 

Most likely Game 3 and 30 to 35 pitches. No chance he will sniff the 1st 2 games and given he threw 115 pitches on Saturday, he will only see Game 3 if we are within striking range or winning and we don't trust any other pitcher. If we are down more than 3 runs, we won't see him at all. Essentially, we shot our wad to get to the championship and it's going to have to be somebody else to step up in order for us to win this.

 

What's your word of advice to the team or a particular player or sully or another coach, for tonight? Word of encouragement, or advice?

Mine: don't try to hit the home run, just try to hit a gap.
To Singer: be confident in the pitch, and don't be afraid if they hit it, trust the gators behind you to play some defense.
To sully: trust your gut!
To dugout: cheer heartily for each other, have fun. Get the iced water ready for a dousing! Or two!!
Bell at third base: practice that windmill sign , get it ready. Paint your hands fluorescent orange so, if you put up the stop sign, they can see it!
Gator fans in Omaha: be loud and fanatical!

 

Don't disagree, but I have never been all that impressed with Poche. His trip to Gville this year ended in an early exit and an L.
Yea, he is rested and his numbers look good, but IMO, he is beatable. I'm far more concerned with their hitting and having to potentially face Lange in a game 3, tho Lange has been a bit inconsistent at times this year also.

Know how important it is to win the first game? UF has never won a Championship Series game. Tonight is the night to get that monkey off our backs.

IIRC the Gators have started hitting better when Brady takes the mound. Let's keep that going tonight. Let's win Game 1 and let LSU get all worried about Game 2.
