If nothing else has been learned in this SEC season, you do not pitch to Bri Ellis. We found that out. A&M is finding it out. Bases loaded....walk her. Seriously. She has to get the next ticket to Athletes Unlimited.
Courtney Deifel has to be in the conversation of the best coach in the SEC. Has to be. She took over a program in the sewer and turned it into a program nobody wants to play. She beats the bushes and finds talent others miss. Her shortstop is from Horseheads, NY. Horseheads, freaking, NY. I know a lot about Horseheads. It is about five miles from where I was born and raised. Softball players in Horseheads DO NOT end up at Arkansas in the SEC. Unless Deifel thinks so.
A&M losing the first two games of their series really opens up the race for the regular season title. We have a chance to steal it with a great finish. I think we need OU and Texas to split their two games.
This an interesting ranking of D1 Softball programs. The ranking is to help parents and players to make good choices for academic, athletic and financial reasons. TOP DIVISION 1 SOFTBALL COLLEGES NCSA analyzed 307 four-year colleges with college softball programs at the NCAA Division 1 level to develop a list of the Best Division 1 Softball Colleges for Student-Athletes. NCSA Power Rankings are based on proprietary analysis of “NCSA Favorites” data obtained from the college search activity of the millions of student-athletes on the NCSA recruiting network, U.S. News & World Report Best Collegesgeneral academic rankings, and the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard graduation rates and average cost after aid. https://www.ncsasports.org/best-colleges/best-division-1-softball-colleges Stanford ranks No.1, Florida is No.4, UGA is 20, Texas is 21, FSU is 24, TAM is 39, AUB is 48, OU is 65, Tennessee is 69, Missiouri is 72 to name a few. Alabama is not in the top 100.
Tori Vidales picked her ideal SEC softball team. She picked Kendra first because for on base percentage and how she plays centerfield. https://www.espn.com.au/video/clip/_/id/44878166
I’d guess Red starts today and Keagan again Monday. Highly likely to see more than one arm in each game.
Last week vs. Alabama, Red relieved Ava in game 2 picking up the win followed by Red relieving Keegan in game 3 picking up the win again. It might be CTW is trying to groom Red this year for the playoffs the way he did with Delanie Gourley so he can get the best out of his top 3 pitchers. We'll see if this happens again this week. I'm not sure anyone in the nation has 3 pitchers as good as Rothrock, Brown, and Oxley. Miller is good for a lefty change up when needed. I have Hammock as our #5 pitcher as she isn't as steady at the SEC level.
As a result of the Oklahoma win the Gators have to win out to win the SEC and A&M has to loose at least one game to Tenn. If Vols and Gators both win out they would tie for championship. Tall order but possible. Go Gators.
