Said “hysterical” poster literally used the word cheap when talking about our ability to retain Robinson, so I don’t think it’s a strawman. If you’re talking about being cheap on NIL deals, I do not see how that’s not directly criticizing the folks who are funding the NIL deals. Names named or not, that’s who you’re criticizing, imo. I think surplus is a bit of a misnomer. When you’re carrying 100+ million in debt (I think that’s about what UF was carrying back when people were raising hell about a practice facility) a 10-20 million dollar surplus for the yearly expenses isn’t really a surplus, imo. I don’t really believe you have a surplus when you’re carrying that kind of debt. Gotta be paidinfull to have a surplus. Yes, I understand money in > money out = surplus to most, but I don’t personally consider it a surplus if you’re carrying multiples of that surplus in debt. We’re good. TBF, I try to ignore one-off critical comments. When it’s habitual is when you’re likely to draw a response from me, not that anyone does or should care all that much about what I have to say. Said “hysterical” poster is a habitual offender, and even though I didn’t respond to him directly here, I was responding to posters who were countering on his side of the argument.
I haven’t followed our financials, but it’s hard to imagine any college athletics program running a surplus having to fund all the non-revenue sports.
Our yearly reports do show a surplus, but I bet the amount of athletic depts in the country that do are few and far between and it’s considerably less than most folks want to be spent on player procurement. Also doesn’t take into account how much debt they’re servicing, just the actual payments made on that debt.
I'd take that with a grain of salt. Disgruntled fan on a twitter post. Haven't seen anything to back that up anywhere else.
*anything credible. It’s possible that I missed something, but the only place I saw it was in a twitter feed from a Baylor fan. *I now see that you posted a link to some other guy I’ve never heard of. Still sounds like sour grapes to me. Like apk noted, he played in the bowl game, so whatever it was it must have been resolved.
I've seen the academic thing and I've seen injury.....believe he played in their bowl game so whatever it was must be resolved
Thanks, I would say that's more credible than anything I'd personally seen thus far. Crazy, with all the help that these guys get on that front, they still fall behind.
Yes... Like I said, the info is ubiquitous. If your agenda is to bellyache, so be it. It's just very hollow. I never heard of him until today. Since then I learned he played over 200 snaps as a FR and was very good. 4th highest rated FR DT by PF. He sat out his SO season for academics, but played in the bowl game. He had a good spring for Baylor and Candy said he was a projected starter for next year.
Bellyache? I was just saying not to get too wrapped up in a Baylor fan's sour grapes twitter post, which was all I'd seen about academics when I made that post. I'm excited about the pickup.
Good... It's just odd you could find the info on the academics. I asked in Awesome Recruiting why he didn't play last year a poster said academics. I searched it and in about 30 seconds I saw like six different reports about him sitting out last season because of academics.
I wasn’t looking for it. I just saw it and that was the only place I’d seen it when I made that post. You’re a whole lot more hung up on it than I am. My post was saying NOT to get hung up on a negative post from the fanbase he’s leaving. His mom seems to have verified it and I thanked apk for bringing that to my/our attention. Not sure what else you want from me.
Nah, no hang up. I simply told you the info was everywhere and you bellyached about a credible source and I followed up. You're on a rant now, so I'll drop out here.
I said that I had not seen a credible source disparaging the incoming transfer’s academics, just a twitter post from an opposing fan. I didn’t say I’d done a bunch of research on the matter. If that’s considered bellyaching, ok then. I, admittedly, did not look very hard to verify the disgruntled baylor fan’s twitter post I saw. I accepted the mother as a credible source just a couple posts and a few minutes later, yet you’re still going on and on about it several hours later. I have now acknowledged that our incoming recruit had academic issues at Baylor. Are you satisfied? Do you have any more dirt on him I should be aware of? Or can we just be happy we landed a new recruit?
