DT Robinson to the portal

They may not be on the level financially that donors from other schools are. Im sure there are some out there that can drop 100 million and it doesnt make a ripple in their finances.

 

Something else to consider, can we afford a 4* guy as a depth piece. Maybe our budget only allows for a 3* to be in his position on our team.

 

If we only knew a depth piece would suffice, I guess. Do we have four SEC DTs at this point? If we did, a couple of depth DTs, one of which could likely play at a high level might do it.

Going by feel, seems that we lost a real good DT.

 

Nope, did not happen. Wish him luck this one time. But he's dead to me now.

 

I'm struggling to find (in this thread) where any poster criticized donors contributing to our athletic dept. In fact, I only noted one somewhat hysterical poster that criticized the UF Athletic Dept as being "cheap." Even he didn't call out donors by name.

 

Maybe he can start and get paid better. Winning not so much.

 

Perhaps he thinks the coaching will get him to the NFL. Did not work for. Charlie Weis. Belichek getting u other in age. ACC means he will be playing against lesser talent. ACC means he lessened the likelihood of a NFL career. Maybe a guaranteed starting role in addition to NIL?

 

Thats who you can call cheap if you choose to do so. The schools arent paying players so boosters are the target whether he realizes who he is talking about or not.

 

Id think starting and money for sure. May not be a bad decision for him. Wont be playing in marque games on tv though.

Like wanne said, the donors are the guys funding the NIL deals. If you’re saying UF is cheap because they didn’t cater to Robinson’s NIL demands, you’re insulting the guys who actually fund the deals, not UF. I don’t think I made the claim that someone was called out by name. I didn’t even specify that someone called anyone cheap, just said it’s a shitty thing to do, and it’s something that’s implied, if not said directly, all the time.

 

Basically, it was a lame effort to throw shade at Napier, from said poster. And it fell well short of the green… Let alone, the pin. An airball at the FT line, if you prefer a basketball reference.

 

Hes a sophomore that just finished spring. I think he didnt like where he finished on the depth chart and his nil reflected that. Its could be something other but its going to happen alot for kids that think they should start. Maybe better for him to start elsewhere and get exposure and snaps. Trask almost got buried.

 

This is where the NIL thing confuses me. This is supposed to be about getting paid for Name, Image, and Likeness. No disrespect to the kid, but if he was walking down the street no one would know who he is. I can't remember a play the kid made this year, and I'm sure most people couldn't. So throw out "Name" and "Image." As far as "Likeness" goes, I guess he would get something from EA for being CFB 25/26 but what else can he possibly earn? I thought this was about star players getting paid for what they bring to the school. Why the hell would unknown backups ever get anything? What sponsors are they getting to jump into advertisements because they have such great marketability? I don't get it.

 

Nil is just paperwork. They are paid to play

 

They’re paid because someone hopes they’ll play. They get paid either way though, sometimes just to leave and play against us.

 

It does suck to pay players to develop that go elsewhere. Hopefully they get some buyouts for some protection
