I think there is no clear #1 pitcher. I'm guessing Keegan starts out game 1 and if she does well then we see her Sunday but I'm guessing we see at least 3 to 4 pitchers. We have yet to see one look good 7 innings..which is fine just not what we had last year! Walks and HBP will be a momentum killer as LSU is notorious for speed.
Did someone actually say bench her? Move her down in the batting order is what I read by manny posters and doing that is typical - we moved Kendra all the way to the 9 hole last year and earlier this season, Kobe was down in the 5 hole. It is a strategy that is used all the time in bat and ball sports.
Agreed. But he seems to be primarily using her as a closer. She got very few innings the previous series. I think he knew she needed some work coming into this weekend's series. In any event, I always enjoy watching her pitch. That girl isn't yet close to coming into what she will be. She just needs some time and innings (and more help from her defense than she has gotten to this point).
Yes. There is a whole thread about it. The original poster has come back and said, "I stand corrected."
Rothrock had about as bad as start as you could possibly have in game 1 last weekend, and still came back to start game 3. That tells me the staff absolutely view her as our #1 when she is healthy.
More trivia. We had the most unusual win over LSU last year. I don't score games, but I bet this one was difficult. Game went to extra innings, Skylar Wallace was up to bat with a runner on 3B. Wallace struck out again, but the catcher dropped the third strike. Skylar ran to first and was safe due to a bad throw, scoring the runner from 3B. It was a walk-off strikeout.
I thought the same. Another opportunity to get her legs underneath her heading into postseason, we certainly will need her at/near her best. I trust CTW knows what he’s doing however. After all he gets a well deserved six figure salary for softball whilst I earn nothing but eye rolls and disagree bacons from you all
Gators at tiggers have all 3 games televised: Softball Travels To Baton Rouge For Top-10 Matchup At LSU - Florida Gators GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The No. 8/6 Florida softball team (40-10, 11-7 SEC) is looking for its second top 10 Southeastern Conference series win this weekend when it travels to Baton Rouge, La., for a three-game series at No. 10 LSU (37-10, 9-9 SEC). The series opener is set for April 26 at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN2 with Kevin Brown (play-by-play) and Amanda Scarborough (analyst) on the call. Game two and three will both air on SEC Network on Sunday and Monday at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. ET, respectively.
That is a pretty solid team. Surprised Fouts not on it. I wish Georgina would dump Great Britain and come to our side.
Will be very interesting to see who gets the infield starts. I think Jessie is a lock at third and you've got Hannah, Skylar, Janae, and Tiare in a battle for short and second. Wonder if one of them gets moved to first. Amanda could get moved to first. The outfield is loaded with people you want on the field.
Anyone else obsessively checking the ticket resale sites in hopes of finding tickets for the Oklahoma series? Sigh. I'm SO jealous of those of y'all on here who are in possession of the ever-elusive season tickets. Sigh. I can only get down there for the Saturday game, and POSSIBLY the Thursday game... but I've been spoiled by my ability to get covered, seated tickets so far this season. At this point, it's looking like I will just have to get berm tickets and camp out in front of the gates super early to get a decent seat in the grass.
I forgot. Gasso is the head coach now. Skylar and Hannah will hit the pine and she will play her kids. Book it.
Thought I would pass along some of my usual useless but somewhat interesting information. In conference Gators are 2nd with a BA of 301. LSU is 4th at 296 and Oklahoma is 11th at 265. That is all I have to say about that. Go Gators.
No kidding. Red got screwed. Heavener (LSU), her rival in high school made the list with an ERA of 2.84. Red is currently at 2.08.
I've always admitted that I don't know jack about pitching. My seats for today's game were by the UF bullpen. All of our pitchers came to throw at various points during the game. Miller twice, Red and Hammock once. Is that normal? Are they directed to warm-up by CTW or is this more like a routine off-day workout with no relationship to the game? Is it weird that someone would pitch twice?
