I literally had this discussion directly with you on the thread I posted. The contract I just posted was posted in that thread. There’s no discussion police, but there’s also no need to post the same questions over and over again because you didn’t take the time to read the answer last time you asked and someone answered.
They’re suing for tortious interference and negotiating in bad faith, not because the terms of the contract weren’t met.
DJ may or may not have a similar one. He was an elite recruit though. Rashada was a fringe upper qb and id think group think said wtf and decided it was a bad idea. The kid slipped out on miami and miami no longer extended their offer either. I think he got exactly what he deserved for being greedy. Rumor was the miami offer was only slightly less.
To @DieAGator ‘s defense, I can hardly remember what was said last night to my family, much less months ago on a forum with total strangers. Lol
Admittedly, you won’t catch me walking on eggshells to appease many other folks on the forum, but die can be equally abrasive at times. He’ll get over it, or he won’t. I answered his questions again either way. I don’t know. There’s been reports of some text chains that imply people who had no business being in the middle of the deal were, in fact, in the middle of the deal. We all hope Billy blew the deal up if it was anywhere near the numbers being thrown around, but that could make him liable. This stuff can be hard to prove, but they’re still pushing forward so they must think they’ve got something.
I’m no attorney, but we need signed contracts. Verbal meeting of the minds are hard to prove in court and harder to win. I think they are wanting to push for some kind of settlement for it to go away.
Tortious interference and negotiating in bad faith are two things that can definitely happen in a deal that ended without a fully executed contract. It’s harder to prove than a breach of contract, but they’re very real things that can have very real penalties. I am not assigning guilt or liability, just saying I can see how something like this could possibly happen.
I don’t think it will go to trial. I think we’ll see a settlement or a dismissal and have been leaning towards settlement since it was filed. Do you think Billy blew up the deal? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. Personally, I would applaud it if he did, but I don’t believe he had a legal right to do so. Not only that, I think he was legally forbidden to do so.
According to an article I just read, the judge has thrown out the Tortious interference claim. Still several other claims on the table though.
if they could just get all the lawyers and the judge and Rashada in the same room and bomb the building, it would be taken care of
