By: Eric Fawcett -- April 22, 2025 As Florida continues to scour the globe for overlooked talent to bring to Gainesville their sights have moved to France, where they have recently offered a guard named Evan Boisdur. Recruiting Target: Gravelines-Dunkerque Guard Evan Boisdur | GatorCountry.com
I remember a dimunitive pg played for CBD who led the gators to 3 consecutive NCAA elite 8 appearances. I wouldn’t worry about his size. If he can play, he can play. Looks like he’s got game from that short vidéo.
Wow to go from playing in a place that sounds like a library to the craziness of UF...that would be a big change.
Size is not everything. Erving was probably like 5’-6”. Yeah, he got a few blocked. But that guy was an absolute baller at PG. It was almost an advantage to him because of his speed. You couldn’t steal it from him, and he was tenacious defensively. Lee is listed 6’4. Brown has good size. The two freshmen coming in have size. I think it only becomes an issue if you have 3 little guards, then you get weird matchups at the 3 sometimes. We have a good assortment of guards to go big from 1-3, really only Klavzar is shortish at 6’1 which is perfectly ok at the 1 or 2. Almost total non issue when other positions have good size. I’m only “concerned” with the 31%. I know our coaches like usage, not sure how i understand wanting low % at high volume. If a guy is reaching 38% or 40% then I absolutely understand. But our coaches seem to know a thing or two about picking guys they like, so if they want him here then I don’t doubt it.
The staff definitely values size at all positions (“get long, stay long”), but we brought in two shorter guards in Klavzar and Martin last year. My question would be where this kid fits, with Lee and Klavzar already at the one. If he is comfortable replacing Kublickas, then great, but it’s hard to tell how we want to approach the back end of our roster given the current walk-ons.
It seems we are focusing somewhat heavily on international prospects who are under the radar. I wonder if the F-1 visa payment limitations factor into that decision. Are we going for these guys because they can be had for less than market rates?
The defenses he would face every game would be infinitely tougher than seen on that video. He would never be able to float around the court like that; he would be challenged at every step, every pass, every drive, every shot, every rebound, every everything really.
Meh, size is overrated, as long as you have the talent. At least is what I constantly tell my wife. Constantly...
