Could be worse, but the reviews Smith has received make him seem to not be a gamble. Size, length, acumen, all the things that make a S stand out. Wish it would have worked out.

Anyone know why he didn't sign the extended NIL agreement?

Miami has double of the number of young blue chips transferring out. That is some kind of systemic problem or reality not matching the hype, that CBN has avoided.

Simple: He has not yet instilled the most important culture a competitive sports team can have….a culture of winning championships.

Miami is following the FSU model. Bring in transfers rather than recruit and develop.

Every spring we hear reviews like that. Remember how awesome Joey Slackman sounded last spring?

Yeah, he was going to shore up our depth and reek havoc. Staff chose him so that doesn't inspire confidence for me. Had we lost a couple in front of him, was he good enough to fill the role?

With GSmith, we get to wait and see if he stands out at another program.

He may be pretty decent but end up behind the two incoming. Not a great spot to be in for him.

I'm sure he did his best, so I'm going to cut him some slack man.

Smith played in five games as a true freshman including Kentucky, Texas, FSU (49 snaps) and most of the bowl game. He was also running with the ones in Spring practice, albeit because of injuries. He definitely would have contributed this year.

So what happened here? Is he getting a better offer elsewhere? Who is he signing with

Tbf, we had nobody left in the secondary to put out there. We had Alfonzo out there too. He may become a great player or just a player that got some plays.

He got banged up right out of the box and never really was healthy. Not sure we ever really got to find out if he could contribute

He was hurt in previous years too. Injured players tend to get injured again.

True....but ultimately I don't mind UF taking a flyer on him. Low risk with potential reward
