He is correct. The Biden Admin maintained diplomatic communications with the Russians.

Biden never put any pressure on the Ukrainians to reach a peace deal or figure out what the least bad option they could live with was. I honestly think he and his team thought that was something they would figure out in his second term.

If Europe is a paper tiger, then what is Russia? A paper housecat?

    Somewhere in Time
Oh, but he was certain that:

    a) HE was the guy to get the job done because of his special relationship to his Russian handler,
    b) it would be easy to do because he is the negotiating GOAT and has a ghost written book to prove it, and
    c) in fact he tried to give away every negotiating point to Russia to fellate Putin before negotiations began.

This was supposedly one of his major campaign promises that his followers would like to conveniently forget yesterday due to the fact he lies about everything.

Of course it doesn't really matter, because they still support him in that they are a bunch of spineless cowards who need a pretend strongman to get through their lives as they imagine brown people replacing them because of their own bad life choices, but in fact are probably doing fine.

sounds like they shot their wad and it's time for a counter offensive

Russians continue to retreat from outskirts of Pokrovsk: Current situation

The Russians are gradually retreating from the outskirts of Pokrovsk. This concerns positions located to the west of the city, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing Viktor Trehubov, Spokesperson of the Khortytsia operational-strategic group of Ukrainian troops.

"This concerns the positions to the west of the city. The ones where they had been crawling out since March, if not since the end of February," Trehubov said.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russian occupiers were very actively trying to advance precisely to cut off the highway from the Dnipropetrovsk region - from Pavlohrad to Pokrovsk, but the enemy failed to do so.

"There was a slight turning point when the Ukrainians recaptured Kotlyne, and now the Russians are very slowly, but pulling back from there, from the western outskirts of the city closer to the southern ones, from where they had begun their advance," Trehubov stated.

Putin is now okay to hold bilateral talks with Zelenskyy. Clearly just a residual benefit from the Biden era.

More likely a residual of Russia getting its ass kicked in Ukraine. (No thanks to Trump.)

That is true. What is also true is, it’s not much more thanks to Biden. Our petty domestic politics have not played a decisive role in this war, though we could have long ago. Ukrainian resilience has been, so far, the most important factor.

As it should be. It’s their land, their war. They are being invaded. They are fighting and spilling their blood for their land.

What material gains have Ukraine made in the past couple of weeks that are so far and above any of their previous gains which lead you to think they were the reason Putin did an about face on negotiating with Zelenskyy? Sorry, but gonna need more than "it's so because I said it's so." You need to back up your claims with real evidence. Otherwise, you're just churning out propaganda.

Introduction of GLSDB's at scale and the Taurus cruise missiles. Ukrainian long range fires have been inflicting an extremely high cost on Putin and Russia, see what the ATACM's did last year. The AFU being able to keep that up indefinitely, is extremely concerning to Putin.

If ATACMS was inflicting “extremely high cost” on Putin … it’s news to Jake Sullivan.

This was the Biden Admin's position on the ATACMS last summer when told to the NYTimes. Sullivan might not be a great NSA but even he was smart enough to ensure this story was told to the press.

The Kerch Bridge episode aside, the Lunar Hail collaboration was judged a significant success. Russian warships, aircraft, command posts, weapons depots and maintenance facilities were destroyed or moved to the mainland to escape the onslaught.

Still waiting for the link on Sullivan's quote.

Trump envoy Kellogg to meet with EU leaders in London tomorrow. They are expected to hammer out an agreement that will be roundly rejected by the Kremlin.

The point Sullivan was trying to get across was that giving the AFU ATACMS earlier in the war would not have resulted in a major strategic change in the outcome of the war versus the risk calculus about their introduction causing an escalation spiral with Russia in summer '22. Sullivan's point is that the ATACMS alone were not going to give the AFU the a special ability to win, which is accurate. The issue with the video is Sullivan's use of the word "operational" when he clearly meant "strategic." The link to the full video below.

Here is the head of EUCOM saying that the ATACMS have been extremely effective operationally.

Russia claims to have accidentally blown up ammo depot northeast of Moscow.

A huge explosion rocked a Russian ammo depot. The Kremlin says it mishandled explosives.
