This way Kentucky will have someone that can show them what a national championship ring looks like.

you were all happy for him taking care of himself in the other thread, now it’s painful??? don’t be do wishywashy

I wouldn’t say it’s life changing money. The State and Uncle Sam will take 30%. If he decides to live off it , he’ll burn through it in just a couple of years. If he’s smart, he’ll invest the vast majority and retire early, but we all know none of these kids will do that.

This is correct, but IIRC, they took a year or two of eligibility from him for his amateur/pro status when he came in. That still wouldn’t qualify him as a redshirt, as a redshirt retains the year of eligibility and his was taken away. Probably just an error here.

yes because he played pro Euro ball, they couldn't figure out what to do with his status...so they decided to treat that time as a year so he started as a sophomore. Technically he was charged a year, whereas redshirt is like being credited a year (or at least practicing without being charged a year)

These aren't student athletes anymore. There is no "I wish him the best and don't blame him for going after "life changing money". They are pros because we paid him and he will be paid at UK. Hope the rowdies boo him every time he touches the ball.

When the policy/practice creates division among the fans as we see in the current discussion, it might just be flawed. ;)

I'm looking forward to the day when we have a trading deadline in mid-season and teams that have no chance of making the tournament ship off their best player to another team in exchange for some extra draft picks the following year.

Portal closes to new entries at midnight tonight.

Oh, and I remember 3-for-1 drink specials at Chelsea Street out at Oaks Mall when I was an undergrad, yessir by cracky. Just getting ahead of the inevitable thread hijacking for irrelevant nostalgia.

Sadly or not, the above post by SJB612 is all too accurate. We need a “not funny” emoji.
Amateur basketball does not exist in High Majors. Probably not in all
Division I schools. This is pro basketball run by Athletic Associations who rent a school name from universities. It has less rules (and funnier ones) than the NBA and little continuity. But it is still great fun because there is more team play and the kids mostly act like kids. My worry is that the game itself will get NBAized and become unwatchable. I’m too old to transfer my fandom.

We haven’t been very good for a long time. 2012 was a long time ago. If UK would have listened to me we would have fired Calipari in the 15-16 season.

Well I think UK is picking up a nice addition in Denzel. He averaged around 20 minutes per game and was huge for the Gators off the bench.
