Speaking for myself I do know that China has had a long term strategy of extending its influence especially with countries with natural mineral wealth through a massive foreign aid program. Unlike the US under Trump and co-President Musk the PRC has not demonstrated the idiocy of essentially eliminating an agency responsible for successful and relatively inexpensive foreign aid programs.

Another example of why Citizens United is one of the most dangerous decisions ever to our democratic form of government.

Would be terrible to see Greenland taken by force, but hopefully after the next democrat president rescinds our illegal invasion and occupation, and sends Trump to The Hague for his war crimes trial, we can begin to rebuild our role as world leader once again.

I don't think that even Trump would try to take Greenland by force, not that it would be very difficult considering that it doesn't have anything approaching a standing army and there are very few if any Danish troops in Greenland. In the end Trump will probably end up negotiating an agreement with Greenland and/or Denmark under which American companies would be allowed to extract minerals from Greenland and possibly proving for one or more US military bases on the island in addition to the current Pituffik Space Base (formerly the Thule Air Force Base) which dates back to 1949, an end result that could have been negotiated upfront absent Trump's unnecessary drama.

That certainly sounds more reasonable. I'm not sure why Denmark would change their minds on mining, though ... all we keep hearing from Trump and the American side is "I want, I want, I want" and "It could make some rich Americans even richer" .... haven't really heard about what's in it for Denmark or Greenland, though...

Not from Trump although it's a virtual certainty that if an agreement is negotiated it will provide for royalties to Greenland and/or Denmark based on the value of the minerals extracted.
