At this point, I'd take on the South Korean strategy from the first term. Find some product with an anti-dumping quota that the US will never be able to meet. Raise the quota. Frame it as: "You know what, sir, you are right, we really should have let you import more US produced bananas. You caught us. You really are a trade genius." Hope that is enough to stop the stupid. You can't make a substantive deal with these buffoons. The Japanese already tried that twice and the Trump folks reneged both times.
Close to impossible to figure out what Trump wants. Best I can come up with is he's trying to extort China into buying $5-10 billion worth of his Trump Coin cryptocurrency. Maybe he's willing to let them balance it aith some Melania Coin.
We Are Suing the President I’m sure this will go nowhere, but since we talked about board games a little, here is a sector of American entrepreneurs getting devastated by Trump’s moronic actions. This board game company says they are suing the president because the tariffs were placed after they had already made the deals with the Chinese manufacturers and they have zero options now on how to take delivery without taking a huge loss. My wife says that several companies have shut down completely or fired all their staff and are trying to outlast this dunce. Wrecking small business and costing American jobs…. And this is just from a small niche industry….
If Trump is so set on bringing jobs back to the US why is he getting a free pass on outsourcing prisons to El Salvador? He mentions what a great deal we’re getting which is exactly what corporations and private individuals do when buying overseas.
why put illegals into american prisons when you can do better and send them to a prison in a foreign country.
When your kids misbehaved, did you send them to take their time-out / azzwhoopin' in the neighbor's house? If not, why not?
if my neighbors kids misbehaved in my house I wouldn't give them a time-out in my house, I would send them over to the neighbors house to be taken care of.
This is a real issue. I have material producers saying they'll cancel future orders if we want but for materials produced we placed them for the agreed cost in good faith months ago - it's not their fault the US wants me to pay a bunch of money in tariffs - yes the importer pays them. Now we can push back on some and others they are the only producers of the material so its not as easy. So I get this game company issue.
They’re not prisons, but detention facilities designed to hold people for immigration purposes. But your comment misses the point. For every X number of people we send to confinement in another country it costs an American job. Why is it ok for Trump to do it (citing the cost savings) but not OK for the wider economy?
His comment also nails the point; he approves of people who haven't been convicted of a crime being imprisoned. And in foreign jails at that. Sort of wonder how we're going to imprison the approximately 12-14 million undocumented persons in the United States .... but I'm sure that that guy from The Apprentice has that all figured out.
I'm sure they are if this is this intended result. Trump tariffs 'will increase the unemployment rate to recessionary levels,' says economist
Bessent did just float it. Bessent sees de-escalation with China, saying the goal isn’t to de-couple BTW, it will be funny when all the people who spent the last few weeks talking about how we need to de-couple from China will react to the rug pull on them again.
Trump took on a vastly superior enemy (really, anyone with a pulse other than RFK is mentally superior to this idiot) and destroyed the US economy and then "blinked". He is full on in retreat now that someone finally explained to him that China has the upper hand and does not need the US, while virtually the entire US economy depends on China.
