Holtorf had a good game tonight from what I was able to see. I was only able to watch sporadically because, apparently, it’s rude to stare at my phone for two hours straight while in a social setting lol, so I very well might have missed something. But maybe she got a much needed fire lit under her tail and knows she has to prove herself big time?
If we're going to make a run in the post season we need a 100% Keagan Rothrock. But for right now, I believe we need to use the other 4 pitchers in a mix and match. 2-3 innings each to keep the other team off balance. Hammaock is the most concerning to me because of her lack of control. But Oxley & Brown, with Miller could get us some wins and bring Keagan along in midweek games until she's back in full form. Is that how CTW will handle it? Probably not and he's the HOF coach.
FYI.....Gators have the exact same record as last year at this point in the season at 38 - 10. Kudos to these young ladies for they have done this prety much without their ace.
The first inning has been the killer for Rothrock so how about starting Red and bringing Rothrock in the 2nd. If she blows up, Red can return and continue your plan. Since you seem to be close to the program, do you know if Rothrock is physical able to perform? I would guess if she starts today, she is, and they are willing to take a loss or losses to have her for the post season. Appreciate your comments.
As I said in game, IMO I think her coming back has been a mental adjustment based on abundance of caution and deciding what that is, especially on her part. She is thinking do to much and she could be out for the season. That's a big decision and it looks she just made it.
It also looked to me that the team reacted to her decison, our missing cog is back, let's get back to winning championships GO GATORS!!!
Keagan was outstanding today. She was visibly tired, and I thought she was left in 3 or 4 batters too long. Red came in and was lights out. I like our spunk. Last night, the Tide put up a 4-spot, and we said, we will give you that and see you a 5-spot. Today, we let them come back and go ahead. We tied them. They went ahead again, so we scored 2 runs to win. It was fitting that Korbe got the game-winning hit. After the game, the commissioner of the new Athletes Unlimited Softball League came with a Golden Ticket into the league. It was presented to Korbe. Congratulations to her.
You think she might give up her career as a thoracic surgeon to play professional softball? I'm sure the money is comparable.
"Runner leaving early" should not be reviewable. Late in the game, you have challenges left, it's a "why not, might get lucky" challenge. Everyone waits for nothing. Yes, its good coaching, but not the point of the challenge system.
She clearly left early and Birmingham wimped out. On the same play interference on Jocey should have been called. The batter swung and missed and twirled around right in front of Jocey making her try to throw to second over the batter's head. Jocey should have just slammed the ball into the batter's head and then it would have been called.
During the second inning of today’s game, I thought, “Oh, there they are!” I know it wasn’t a perfect game, but their energy and chemistry were definitely back, and it definitely had a huge positive impact. Also… I said something about it in the game thread, but man… the fans celebrated every single strike Keagan threw like it was the final strike in the WCWS. It was, at risk of sounding like a huge cheeseball, very moving. And I think Keagan fed off of it, too… in the best way possible. Last year she would get stoked here and there, but as a freshman, she seemed pretty even-keeled. Did her job, did it well, and on to the next batter. But today… she FELT it. She showed so much emotion today, and I am so glad I got to see it in person. Today just felt really, really special. (And now I need to go shower and try to scrub off all these feelings because they’re making me quite uncomfortable.)
Nope. Perhaps someday Gabi will be at the point in her career that she should be our everyday SS. I don't think that is this year. I don't have a solution to the problems on the left side of the infield. But at SS, for better or worse, I think we are going to have to live with Rylee and hope for the best. Edit: I should add I really like Gabi. Lots of speed and apparent potential. I love her attitude. She clearly wants to be at UF. Boundless enthusiasm. She is the first one out of the dugout jumping for joy and hugging anyone she can find.
lol Without question, best crowd of the year. They announced yesterday that one of the Oklahoma games is already sold out. Come on back to KSP for that series!
I can picture her showing up to do major surgery in her softball uniform! Or vice versa. Showiing up to the ballpark in her surgical scrubs.
Another side note… Townsen Thomas has the most absurdly athletic looking casual jog I have ever seen in my entire life.
