Women underway today as a 12 seed vs 3 seed Bama....this has been the worst UF season I can recall, probably their worst ever. Just waiting for the death march to end Doubles almost finished, extremely tight. Loss on 1 4-6, win on 3 7-6, 2 in a tiebreak after UF fought off several match points. As I type UF wins the tiebreak easily to clinch the doubles point. Daubernova is back in the lineup for the first time in weeks which helps the lineup immensely if she is healthy Men underway tomorrow as a 6 seed
Daubernova played doubles but gets pulled from singles lineup First sets wrapping up. Gailis wins first easily Dudeney loses 4-6 Gatenby wins 6-4 Spee up 5-4 Oliveras loses 4-6 Parker loses 2-6....she really has no chance in any match she has played Looks like a long night to survive another day
Oliveras and Parker both get waxed in their matches....Bama up 2-1 Gatenby up a set but getting killed in her second Spee up a set but down a break Dudeney down a set and a break Gailis up a set and on serve. Looking like the season will end today.....games won in the 2nd sets thus far is Bama 22 and UF 3. This is against a 13 seed team UF already beat. Just awful
Gailis loses second....headed to 3rd Dudeney fighting back in her 2nd but down a break Gatenby was down 0-4 in 2nd, comes all the way back to win it 6-4.....match even 2-2 Spee loses her 2nd 0-6, headed to 3rd Need 2 of 3 remaining
Props to the vets Spee battled in her 3rd set but lost Gailis cruised to a 3rd set win Dudeney came back from the dead to win her 2nd set and then won the match 6-3
Great win. We have a commitment for next year from Capucine Jauffret, #7 ranked recruit, out of Delaware. Program is trending up.
Women face Vandy this afternoon....another winnable match Men face #11 seed Arkansas....need to win that match badly for postseason seeding
Class of 26....unless she reclassifies won't help for next year. Also has a couple of brothers that are young but very highly rated. Roster next year needs a lot of help. De Oliveira was recently removed from the roster....after missing last 2 years injured. Lopez hasn't played this season and there is no mention of her anywhere I have seen....still on roster so I assume a redshirt year for injury. Assuming Gailis comes back, Lopez is healthy, Gatenby and Daubernova are back and healthy you have 4 viable players. Gailis is a legit #1, a healthy Lopez could be a 3/4, Gatenby at 4/5, Daubernova at 5, maybe Oliveras at 6. Badly need a #2 type and at least one more depth piece (probably 2 more given everyone on this roster has missed time with injury this year)
Thing is....if everyone is back and healthy you really are only missing one portal player to suddenly become competitive with anybody. Nice thing about small roster sports
Vandy takes doubles point relatively easily and is out of the gate quickly in singles. Think this is likely going to be the end of the road
Women will be swept 4-0....a horrible season ends horribly Men just lost the doubles point to Arky....can't beat a decent team like that but may squeeze thru today
UF wins 4 first sets.....Jin and Jefferson lose theirs. Jin has scuffled a bit last few matches. Ganesan has been playing well and that continues today so far
Halfway thru singles they have changed the names on 4 of UF's matches.....essentially removed Johnson from #3 and moved everyone up while inserting Villard at #6. If accurate it was Edengren that lost his first set along with Jin Ganesan already done with an impressive win
Jin loses...2-1 Arky. UF 1 game away on court 5, apparently Nirundorn now lol The winner of the first set is losing the second set on other remaining courts
Headed to a 3rd set on courts 3 and 4. UF was up 5-3 on court 5 and had match points, but now it's 5-5. Court 6 is looking like a 3rd set as well
Nirundorn lets the second set get away....that hurts Edengren up a break, Jefferson on serve middle 3rd sets. Villard down 5-6 but up a set. Need 3 of the remaining 4 matches
Good stretch.....Villard rebounded to take his second set and the match Jefferson wins his 3rd set, 3-2 UF Edengren was up 2 breaks, but now its 4-4 Nirundorn rights the ship after an awful stretch and leads 4-1 in his third As I type Edengren 5-4, Nirundorn 5-1.....need one to close it out Nirundorn gets it done 6-1 Have to assume Johnson was pulled with injury, hopefully he can return soon
