"Professional athletes recently named assistant GMs at their alma mater include:
Steph Curry, Asst. GM, Davidson College
Trae Young, Asst. GM, University of Oklahoma
Terance Mann, Asst. GM, Florida St.
Maxx Crosby now becomes the first active NFL player to be named assistant GM of his alma mater."

Who would you want for Gator Basketball?

I think I'd like Patric Young

What happened to Trae Young's pro career?

I'd think Matt Bonner, with his IQ of 227, would make a good GM. Patrick Young and Al Horford would be good candidates too. But I have no idea what role a GM would play in an athletic department. Isn't that what the AD is supposed to be? Would the GM usurp duties the head coach should be responsible for?

This is something that has always irked me about the NBA. The front office makes all these personnel decisions and then tells the coach, "Here's your team... now go win all your games." But when all the games aren't won, the coach gets the blame for the front office's bad choices, and gets canned. The front office guys have a good laugh at the country club and then hire another soon-to-be-canned head coach.

They should be functionally excellent, as students and in their career, to give credibility to their actions.
They should have a history of passion for U of F.
Very deep emotional maturity to sift through the volume of sources of information.
    Highly trustworthy.

Patric Young, Vernell Brown, Chris Doering, Matt Bonner all come to mind.

These are just titles for recruiting clout IMO. I don't think these guys are doing much in these roles.

But imagine the possibility of a great GM, some of the names we have floated...

So, we want to have a GM that is passionate for UF and has both the notoriety for recruiting and the skill to do a good job? Hmm...

How about Vernell Brown Jr? He is doing something similar, just as a pro's assistant. I am sure he can still assist AR.
