the moment the USA says to send him back they will send him back. surely you don't believe he would say no if dear leader said yes
do you still have a driver license? not sure you should be driving in the real world if you honestly believe what you just typed
@G8trGr8t I appreciate you including me with some folks who are much more knowledgeable than I, especially about this situation. I will just say that I do not like the idea of deporting somebody without due process. Procedurally, if somebody made a mistake, I would like to think they would be held accountable for it (let alone have agencies work to correct said mistake). Best case scenario, for our system, exploiting a flaw in it can help us to know what we need to do better, but I realize that's an optimistic take. Worst case scenario, a mistake was made, this dude deserved protection as somebody trying to escape a bad situation having committed no crime either here or abroad; and people are doubling up on their mistake rather than seeking to make corrections. I don't fault the President of El Salvador since he's supporting the information that Trump seems to be endorsing that this was not a mistake. I have no reason to believe that if Trump asked him to be returned an acknowledged a mistake was made that this couldn't be fairly easily worked out. I would add, the media should name names. It takes more than the President to make this happen. There is no "just doing my job" when you are violating people's rights. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Is this another strawman attempt or simply an unbright statement? Has anyone claimed that the COURTS have authority to get this man back? The USSC, as is their authority, told the WH to get him back.
That was necessary because that would have been sufficient evidence for this administration to "prove" someone is a gang member.
As bad as the Albrego Garcia case is, it shouldn't take away from the fact that there are somewhere around 175-180 people in the El Salvadoran gulag that we sent there with literally no criminal record (including this person). That is a bit of a statistic, but that is somewhere around 178 individuals that are locked in there because of their tattoos (which can be highly ambiguous and relatively common things like a crown or a clock) or just because some ICE agent got overzealous. That is why we have due process. Unfortunately, this is an exercise in seeing if Republican voters will ever draw a line like they did last time with the family separations. So far, the evidence is that they won't and that the frog is on full boil.
I would venture to say almost none of the people we sent there, if any, are actual gang members or have any kind of serious criminal history. If they had some guy with face tattoos who had murdered a whole family, they would be blasting the media with how they had sent him away. And even the hypothetical family murder guy shouldn't be sent there under any circumstances, especially without any due process.
Try to understand - really heat up the little gray cells - this guy IS NOT an illegal alien. Continuing to espouse proven lies makes you look uninformed or worse.
Its interesting to see which side is ok or not ok with certain types of collateral damage depending your party affiliation.
‘Nothing That Can Be Done’: CNN Legal Analyst Tells Panelist Deported MS-13 Member Isn’t ‘Coming Back’ |
I just find it mildly disturbing that some of you care more about gang members and someone being close enough to be collateral damage and be sent to prison but couldn't care less about the many immigrants who are preyed upon by coyotes whether they make it to the US successfully or not. You are ok with families being in debt to the cartel thousands upon thousands of dollars just to be "free" here in America but draw the line when one or two get caught up in this mess? If we didn't have such an open border to begin with, most of these gang members would still be terrorizing their own country instead of ours. It must be a weird feeling to favor gang members over women and children.
"MS-13 member" ... nice source lol. Nice of them to cite the guy who got 'canceled' after he tugged his penis on a company zoom call too.
What evidence is there that he is an MS-13 member? One, anonymous allegation that a judge during his immigration hearing dismissed as bogus should not be enough to suspend due process and send a man, who is here LEGALLY, to prison in another country. Is this the country we want to live in? What's next? Making all immigrants where a flag of their home country on their sleeves? And most gang members from other countries stay in their home country. Why risk coming to the US to commit crime when you can stay home and have less chance of dying on the trip, or being caught and prosecuted. Most of the gang members here in the US from foreign countries weren't gang members when they arrived. They are kids who grew up and watched their immigrants parents struggle and not able to assimilate. Still, immigrants commit less crime than citizens per capita. Want to make it even less? Enact a Gang of 8 style Bracero Program law where immigrants looking for work can come legally assuming they can pass a background check. This would all but end the demand for coyotes, and it ensure the immigrants are making at least minimum wage as no more under-the-table payments.
A couple of big problems here: A. We aren't discussing somebody with substantive evidence that he is a gang member. As a reminder from earlier in the thread 3 out of 4 of the people that we sent to this prisoners have no criminal record. That is a whole lot of "collateral damage." B. If we actually had an "open border," there would be no coyotes. Coyotes exist because borders aren't open. Why would somebody pay somebody to get them through an "open border?"
This situation is the Trump Administration illegally deporting people without due process. And the Trump Administration refusing to follow a USSC decision In short, this is criminal conduct by ...... yes, the Trump Administration. We don't need the media, or anyone else, to tell us what we know and see. I guess we just need more people to care. Apparently, criminal conduct is perfectly acceptable in America, if enough people will tolerate it. And right out in the open too. Who knew?
