The new strategy has absolutely nothing to do with the recent drop in the price of the eggs which is the direct result of egg laying hens hatched four to six months ago reaching maturity and increasing the supply of eggs.

It's not a coincidence. It's false. Canada has had plenty of bird flu cases too, but the effect isn't as big. That's because Canada has a lot more family farms and less mega chicken farms than the US. So when a farm in the US is hit by the flu, thousands of chickens are sacrificed. In Canada, it's only hundreds. In normal circumstances, the mega farms make eggs cheaper here in the US. Economy of scales. But during an avian bird outbreak, the mega farm gets hit even harder.
