So, I ask the general population, are we good on offense or are we bad on defense? If I had to make a guess, Lagway was a non-sequitor and so, any offensive "transcendence" is mainly a call for concern over the defense. But I also saw where there were some notable players/plays on defense. And so, are we decent on defense but the offense is susceptible to major brain farts? My take? get stocked up on cheap (read good value) alcohol. As Betty Davis so eloquently said... It is what it is...
Was there. Will say Jaden and Jakobi look even better than before. Both are so dynamic and really complement each other well. Just awesome to have. I'm going to guess the young backs are going to be very low milage this year. Dallas Wilson has WR1 written all over him. Dude runs nice routes and catches the ball with his hands. He's money! The other young WRs (Hawkins, Abhrams, Montgromery, and such) they are going to be trouble for defenses. I'd like to see what these guys can do with a QB who can sling it. Bailey looks like the apparent backup. But neither he nor Warner has any pop in their passes. some nice throws today but nothing that pushed the ball down the field in a hurry. Demonstrated clearly by Bailey on the last drive when Orange had a chance to win the game but stalled out about 30 yards away from the endzone. Didn't seem like there was a threat to go to the endzone with any of the passes. Defense looked fine. DL looked stout and DBs played alright. You could tell guys were out and the calls were handicapping the Defense.
When you can put up that many points with your backup QBs it speaks to the explosiveness of your playmakers on offense. Seems we got a pretty good handful.
I think that’s the question most of us ask ourselves after one side seemingly dominates the other in the Spring game. But Napier was on the field and was able to dictate the tone of the scrimmage and I think he wanted to see points and plays from both offenses. I was impressed, not overwhelmed, but pleased with both QB’s and really excited about some of our incoming freshmen that played. Watching Dallas Wilson battle with Ben Hanks was something to behold. Those guys are going to be good.
I think the Florida Gators 2025/2026 team has the goods! If you can only follow the game by radio, like I did, Shane Matthews is the perfect commentator. It was hard for him to contain his excitement. Go Gators!
I did not attend the spring game yesterday, honestly I haven't attended a spring game myself since 2011 during Muschamp's first year. So I have no clue what attendance is like for it anymore. But the trend is either doing away with Spring Games completely or converting them to some sort of non-game format. Just look at the benchmark in college football, Alabama. DeBoer scrapped the traditional A-Game format for Alabama and went to a non-game format. They also started charging for autographs. Here was their A-Game in 2007 in Saban's first year: Now given, the first year of any coach, never mind Saban, will always be more. But still crazy, it looked like a true regular season home game. But even in 2018, here was Alabama's A-Day Game: Obviously a big drop, but still right in the middle of when Alabama was a power. The upper decks really weren't being used anymore, but the lower deck was mostly full. Now look at Alabama's "non-spring game" spring game just yesterday: There's nobody there hardly. 10,000-12,000 tops, and even that might be generous. If Alabama is having this, I have to imagine most other places (outside of maybe Nebraska, where there's just nothing else to do) are barely getting anyone to their spring games. So how was yesterday's spring game or just in recent year? I know yesterday there was probably a decent bump because of the celebration of the National Championship Men's Basketball Team (congratulations to them again, proud of them!!), but in recent years does the Orange and Blue Game mostly look like Alabama? Or even that much? How much longer until Florida goes to a non-game format (truly a glorified practice or just a skills exhibition) or just flat out cancels the Orange and Blue Game? How much longer before spring games in general are another casualty of the new college football?
I think you are right about the trend of Spring games but, I hope we continue to Buck the trend. I usually attend and did yesterday. I like seeing so many young couples with their young children, even babies and toddlers attending the game. I saw dozens of children decked out in Gator gear with their parents holding their hands and teaching them the Gator chomp. The young mom and dad sitting next to us had two youngsters, one was a little girl who I would estimate about 3 years old asleep on her Dads shoulder. She was decked out in a Gator cheerleading outfit and wearing Gator beads she collected at one of the kiosks around the stadium. This type of family experience creates Gators for the future. It’s not affordable or even practical for most of those families to attend regular season games. In spite of the trend, I hope the tradition is here to stay.
Boys and girls club brought a bus load of kids. I would say at least half of them were engaged. Counselors were defending their seats the whole time so didn’t get much chance to watch or walk the kids through whats happening.
Yep... It appears we have our next elite receiver. He's physically different than Percy Harvin, but he stood out as the best player on the field like Harvin always did.
the Orange and Blue game had 58.5k yesterday. Its been pretty well attended every year when held on a Saturday.
