Shane Matthews made a brief mention of this on his podcast last week. Basically saying (not a direct quote) DJ may require shoulder surgery after the season and we will see. That was the extent of it, he cited no sources, no staff, no medical reports, nothing else.
Well, that's my thought as well. Hope the new transfer portal QB is doing well. Heck even if DJ is 100% look what happened to UF last year, with Mertz and DJ going down.
Oh are we bringing back not knowing who or what HIPAA actually applies too? It's like 2020 all over again.
I agree that our won loss record is not anything to brag about but the improvement in performance the last part of last year is encouraging. What I consider amazing is the obvious improvement and upgrade in structure and quality of our roster, the removal of the toxic culture: evidenced by very few off field arrests, and almost all of our players opting to play in our lower tier bowl game. I also think CBN and his staff and players never threw in the towel and kept on playing and improving despite a very bad start. That says something about the toughness and resilience of our team. CBN is a relentless recruiter and has rebuilt good relationships with high school coaches in the state of Florida. I realize none of the above amounts to much if we can’t become relevant again. This year we have to make big strides on the field. I’m in the camp that think Napier has evolved and is going to put it together this year.
For me, this is exactly what Napier really meant by "the process". It was clear they- he and the staff he assembled- had a lot to learn about big time football program management.
I would guess that he’s eluding to the fact that hippaa only really applies to the people directly in the flow of the health care… physicians, insurance, etc. Lots of people know and find out about these injuries. If you or I found out and decided to tell the world, I don’t think there’s anything to prevent that. Likewise UF and/or it’s coaches could potentially share info they were aware of if they knew. That being said, I don’t think it’s UF’s place to disclose personal health information of it’s athletes unless the athlete is ok with disclosing that information. If the athlete wants us to know, we’ll know. While I appreciate when this info is shared, I also don’t think it’s an entitlement.
OK, very good. We're (posters on Swamp Gas) not part of the HIPAA chain. We can talk about what wee like. But, the professionals in the in the loop are in the HIPAA chain. I don't know why they'd share any info.
lol... I think UF and CBN want to keep it quiet for whatever reason... I'm thinkin' we'll get some clarity around or right after the O&B game. We'll see.
Yes. The coaching staff or media has 0 to do with HIPAA. It really wasn't meant to be taken seriously, just trying my best to be a pompous jerk like everyone else. (Also sarcasm because it has to be spelled out)
If coaches have access to PHI through personal medical reports, they have HIPAA compliance obligations.
