The dems were right and republicans were wrong on free trade for 50 years. We’ve got the Pelosi video to prove it! Now please listen to us perpetually wrong republicans while we go full market destroying big guv commie. Thats certainly… something.
The tariffs are all part of Trump's plan to Make America Great Again, it's just that most of us never realized that America was Great in 1932. It took the Smoot Hawley Tariff of Act to make America great back in 1930 and the stable genius is simply following the same playbook.
If you didn't vote for Trump but you voted for Republican Senators and Representatives you are part of the problem because you helped elect people who enable Trump and his policies because they won't get together and do anything to slow or even try to slow Trump down. They'll let this B.S. happen because they would rather not get primaried in the next election instead of doing what's right.
Hey tarponbro, are you Brock Horner, the best charter captain we’ll ever meet? Asking for Gage Towles.
And what is that hypocrisy? There is a difference between the limited targeted tariffs supported by some Democratic politicians and the massive across the board tariffs scheduled for implementation by Trump but then supporters of the stable genius residing in the White House when he isn't visiting his version of the Versailles palace in Florida aren't very good at making distinctions. They tend to echo whatever they read on social media platforms rather than actually examining the issue.
Another unintended consequence of the stable genius's tariff policy. Trump’s Tariffs Are Threatening the US Semiconductor Revival Silicon Valley let out a sigh of relief on Wednesday when it learned that President Donald Trump’s tariff bonanza included an exemption for semiconductors, which, at least for now, won’t be subject to higher import duties. But just three days later, some US tech companies may be finding that the loophole actually creates more problems than it solves. After the tariffs were announced, the White House published a list of the products that it says are unaffected, and it doesn’t include many kinds of chip-related goods. That means only a small number of American manufacturers will be able to continue sourcing chips without needing to factor in higher import costs. The vast majority of semiconductors that come into the US currently are already packaged into products that are not exempt, such as the graphics processing units (GPUs) and servers for training artificial intelligence models. And manufacturing equipment that domestic companies use to produce chips in the US wasn’t spared, either. “If you are a major chip producer who is making a sizable investment in the US, a hundred billion dollars will buy you a lot less in the next few years than the last few years,” says Martin Chorzempa, a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
If you were trying to destroy the country, without making it obvious that you were doing so, would it really look any different from what we're living through now? Sabotage the economy, cripple federal departments, , undermine confidence in the justice system, alienate our allies, significantly damage our reputation abroad. I'm sure there's more I'm missing off the top of my head.
I've been saying there are 3 possible explanations for the first 10 weeks of this admin: They are inconceivably ignorant / naive They are engaged in a bald-faced Kleptocratic smash and grab They are compromised All 3 could be happening simultaneously.
Why would you ask me that? I saw the video when Gage put it out on Facebook and I'm basically the opposite of that guy. I don't think it's funny although I do smile a little when I think about how much of an azzhole someone has to be to enter that into the internet and think it's funny, smart , clever - whatever. It's a lot more of an asinine comment than a funny one. Btw, Horner was arrested for that incident recently. I guess he got his few minutes of fame, but maybe not how he wanted to get them.
It's hilarious you're using a few days of this as evidence this is what someone would do if they were intentionally trying to destroy our country. Surely you believe Covid-19, which killed millions of people and forced most of our economic engine to shut down, was much more cataclysmic than some tariffs. And yet, under a Trump presidency no less, within 9 months of Covid's onset, we had a record high stock market and booming employment. If you were attempting to fantasize something into reality, without making it obvious that you were doing so, would it really look any different than many of the posts from the Trump haters in this thread?
So no substantive response other than some nonsense about Covid? Covid isn't a great comparison since that was a global, external factor outside of the President's control while the tariffs are entirely self-inflicted by a single person. I don't blame Trump for what happened to the economy under Covid and he generally exceeded my expectations for him (which were admittedly very low).
