I already said I couldn’t care less about her 20k watch, you are the one who added it to your post.
I’m not sure why you added it in.
You tell me what it has to do with any of it.

No objection to any of that. And, again, I would welcome Greenland to join us. But what precisely of your reasons gives you comfort for seizing Greenland and imposing our will on a bunch of unarmed, friendly Eskimos by force of arms? Surely, that is where you draw the line on this?

I ‘member not long ago right wingers losing the minds over Pelosi having a fridge stocked with $8/pint ice cream. Lots of posts about dems with supposedly unexplained wealth.

But this lifelong politician doing a propoganda video wearing a $50k watch is a nothingburger. Sure…totally normal. No political blinders here. :emoji_joy:

And you deal with the relationship through quiet diplomacy, rather than aggressive, obnoxious bullshit.

Your leaving out the part where they've never said no to a request from us in the past.

So, what the idiot is suggesting is that we incur cost for things we would otherwise get for free. But hey, you sure "owned" those "lib" Danes and native Greenlanders!

Are we preparing an invasion of Greenland I am not aware of? If so, we might as well annex Denmark while we are at it. After all, they are the cause of all this drama in the first place and I’m seeing reports every day of persecution of ethnic Americans living abroad by Danish officials and military alike.

I don’t believe that VAT applies just to imported vehicles.

I understand the humor. But it was a serious question. Is force of arms where you draw the line, or do you consider Greenland so intrinsically linked to our national survival that we should seize it if it comes to that? I have already stipulated I see real mutual benefit to bringing in Greenland. I said it when it came up four years ago. But I’m only willing to bring in Greenland “one way,” not the “other.”

Who are suggesting that we should actually take Greenland by force? From what I can ascertain in my central Florida basement bunker, it's a narrative from the same people who offered us "Hunter laptop is Russian disinformation" and "this version of Biden is the best version of Biden." And if that assessment is accurate, I have to ask why such an intelligent poster such as yourself would take the bait?

That being said, this Greenland business feels a lot like the China business circa 2015. e.g. Trump going public with legitimate concerns which are equally held bilaterally behind closed doors. The opposition, not yet going public with said concerns themselves, use this as an opportunity to attempt to make Trump look like he's Hitler, when in reality, they share the same aspirations (whatever those may be). Recall it was "Trump is a racist and xenophobe. China is a vital partner. Free trade. Trump hates Asian people. Tax on Americans......." fast forward into Biden term..... "ooooops, we need to increase tariffs on China and Covid most likely originated in a lab."

Common sense tells me POTUS is not up for re-election and putting Greenland in focus probably has real world implications for us that we don't fully yet grasp.

Agree. While Trump's preference is that Denmark would sell Greenland to the US or that if it becomes independent Greenland voluntarily agrees to become a US territory he hasn't ruled out force as a last resort.

Trump's attitude towards Greenland reminds me of Mussolini's attitude towards Ethiopia (called Abyssinia at the time) was that it was his for the taking by force.

Although Trump isn't completely wrong about Greenland he seems to be eschewing the rational approach which would be to negotiate with Denmark and/or Greenland for more US bases as well as the right to extract minerals. The US had a base in Greenland since 1949 specifically the Pituffik Space Base formerly the Thule Air Force Base the base visited by JD and Usha Vance after Greenlanders made it clear that they didn't want them to pay a visit to the capitol of the country. Apparently Trump would rather try to demonstrate dominance that to negotiate as a rational president.

Weird. You're actually lying in a post where you claim to not lie.

Perhaps you could read the articles. Then you'd know something about what you're talking about. Then you'd know how laughable the liars -and the lie-repeaters- are for suggesting that, I dunno ..... $20 mill is being spent for Oscar, Big Bird and the Count, but in Arabic.

But I don't care. You can know as little as you choose. Just expect to be called out when you repeat untrue things.

You are dodging a direct question that should be simple to answer. I did not ask if you think we will invade Greenland. For what it’s worth, I don’t think we will. I did not ask if preparations for such an invasion are in progress. I could not say, but I don’t think there are. I did not ask if you thought the President had overtly threatened to carry out such an invasion, though I think it’s a reasonable interpretation of “one way or another.” And before we go there, I did not ask if the armed forces would obey such an order without statutory authorization from Congress, which as we all know is not coming.

I asked you this: Is force of arms against Greenland where you, personally, draw the line when it comes to making this acquisition? Since I think you will only dodge the question again, I’ll merely suggest that there is a reason, perhaps a voice in your soul, you can’t unequivocally declare that invading Greenland would be just and necessary. You should listen to that.

Google “Trump threatens military action against Greenland” and pick from a smorgasbord of news sources.

“U.S. President Donald Trump maintained an aggressive tone, telling NBC News that “I never take military force off the table” in regards to acquiring Greenland.”

    You knew this, right?

Not taking an option off the table, that would never be taken off the table no matter what geopolitical context we were discussing, doesn't equate to a suggestion of taking land by military force.

    Thanks for playing.

If it was a full volunteer army populated by the likes of you, I'd fully encourage it. And celebrate when the Danes wipe the floor with you.

Off topic, but you should temper your expectations in that regard. I have worked with the Danish military in Afghanistan. I’m afraid they are less like the ancient ancestors you might imagine from watching Vikings and more like the nearer ancestors who surrendered to Germany without even ceremonial resistance. The idea here is that they are our friends, and we come to fair deals with our friends, even over land. But we don’t steal from them.
