You think only democrats supported Juneteenth? Most states, red and blue, had adopted it before it became federal. When Congress voted on it, it was unanimous in the senate and almost unanimous in the house.
It wasn't an issue of inability to do the math (it is 0.5%). It is about learning (and it is "you're" and "yourself").
This was to be expected based on how the other memorials were demonized and removed. If someone introduces removal and cancelation as part of the playbook, don't be surprised when it is used going the other way. The correct solution was not to remove confederate statues but instead include other statues in just as prominent place like say a Buffalo Soldier monument or a Sojourner Truth memorial (depending on local history). It should be an inclusive or additive process not a removal and replacement strategy.
I don't base my opinions on what politicians do. It was passed back when the country was reacting to the BLM riots. I wonder if it would pass now?
Not precisely. They disagreed with the Union leaders' interpretation of The Constitution, not the Constitution itself. The CSA's Constitution mirrored the US version. And of course, tariffs reared their ugly heads again, in this case, northern tariffs of Southern products due in large part to abolitionist protestations of slavery. And there is that ugly term again. When have tariffs ever been beneficial?
My family owned slaves in rural SC in the 1800's until it was abolished. I do not feel the least bit responsible for that decision. I also do not believe anyone is owed reparations for something that occurred 160-170 years ago.
Nope that what you Dems do. That’s on your terms so we have to discuss people the way you all do. Have it your way, but we aren’t the ones who are racist.
Was that supposed to make sense in the English language or in the terms of basic logic? Because it was 0-for-2.
My mother said her parents owned slaves and they lived upstairs. But she told me that when she was well into her Alzheimer’s.
While you shouldn't feel guilty because your family owned slaves over 150 years ago that doesn't mean that history of chattel slavery in the US shouldn't be taught or should be whitewashed (pun intended).
It wouldn’t make sense to a government loving, race divider like yourself. You’ll never be happy unless you’re assisting in dividing the country.
Also, people who speak English. It does make slightly more sense post-edit. Good effort though! Enjoy the big tax increases that you voted for this week.
The democrats need to keep that division alive. It's like 10% of the total vote. If that 90% ever dropped to 50%, dems would be toast.
Not surprising. People from privileged positions rarely have the self awareness to recognize their privelege.
