S&P down another 2% today. It's been an all around terrible week for Trump. And next week a bunch of new tariffs kick in and other countries retaliate. Trump is losing support. WSJ is slamming him and even Fox news is getting critical of him. It's painful for the country but all Dems can do is continue to stay out of Trump's way and let his incompetence, ignorance and corruption do its thing. It's going to get bad, but nothing can be done about it until 2026. The damage was actually done back in November when the country voted for Trump. This is just the inevitable aftermath of that.
that's what you think. Somewhat related, I was horrified today at Las 4 Americas....my taqueria was overrun with Gringo hipsters!
People in some states won by Trump will be hurt the most by Trump's tariffs on Canada. Trump is putting it to his people hard. Also of interest: experts are saying that instead of protecting the U.S. automakers, the tariffs might kill them off. The silver lining in Trump's massive disaster is that this will probably turn over the mid-terms to the democrats in a major way. Maybe Congress will stand up to Trump and quit kissing his ass. US cities located in states won by Trump would be most hurt by Canadian tariffs, an analysis finds
Canada projects Kansas City to be a top-3 finalist in the competition of which U.S. city will be damaged the most by Donald "Dunce" Trump's foolish tariffs. KC ranked #3 US city to suffer most from trade war, Canada says
Flights between the U.S. and Canada are down 70%. Nice work, Trump, eh? A-boot time someone discouraged the maple syrup-swilling crowd from spending their tourists dollars in the U.S. We don't need a healthy economy--we've got Trump! Fewer and fewer people are traveling between the U.S. and Canada: Flight bookings between the two countries are 70% lower than they were a year ago
The Cleveland-Cliffs steel layoffs are official. 1,200 steelworkers laid off. Cleveland-Cliffs lays off more than 1,200 workers as tariffs hit demand
And yet these protectionist companies in Cleveland Cliffs and Nucor, the two largest suppliers for my company, are fully on board with the tariffs. They want the government’s help to compete. In CC’s case, the company is already fully vertically integrated and hold a ton of leverage with customers since they’re so large no customer gains an advantage over them. This is about ramping up profits at the US’s expense.
Trump's tariffs are scheduled to be 18% on average, which is the highest level since 1935. Hmmm, I wonder what the economy was like in 1935? Does anyone know the answer to that question? Were Americans fat, dumb, and happy in 1935? I heard you could get soup for free back then--that's how good the economy was. And people lined up to get it. Trump really has this economy-thing figured out, doesn't he?
Getting ahead of the tariffs? Nephew works at a Subaru dealership in the Dallas area. They were packed yesterday. Sold 40 cars.
Sounds logical, but some of the cost of the tariffs is being priced into the cars already. Carmakers are aware that people want to buy cars ahead of the tariffs, so they are adding some of that into the cost of a car. They believe (justifiably) that they may start losing money after the tariffs kick in and they don't sell very many cars, as people hold on to what they have. There is no such thing as an affordable car while Trump is still in office. The people that bought a car while Biden was in office are the ones sitting pretty right now, just like the homeowners who bought a house before 2022 when the interest rates went up.
Another side effect of the Trump tariffs: car insurance rate hikes. As the cost of a new car goes up, the cost to insure cars will go up. Another example of Trump-flation.
Awesome, so what you're claiming is Trump is helping our economy, Our President is tearing it up while the left just keeps on whining
We're talking about the economy, not the Constitution. Stay on topic. And yes, Trump may be sacrificing future economic growth for current growth- after all, net car purchasing is limited. But then, we saw him do the same scam with deficit funded fiscal stimulus. People actually thought he had done something legitimate for the economy. Can you imagine anyone knowing so little about this stuff that they'd fall for Donald Trump’s scams?!
The president of the U.S. has been reduced to selling a few dozen cars at gunpoint, and you call that "helping the economy"? Hilarious what the simple mind can come up with to justify a bad decision.
