will the pub senators grow a spine or let this admin continue to abandon our allies? sounds like there may be a group of 7 and it's getting personal..here's junior's take on it

will it harden them or cower them?

insane to think that we are splitting with europe and cozying up with Russia/Hungary/China and the republican party and middle america is good with this

does MAGA hate libs more than they hate Putin? apparently they do

Multiple GOP Senators Publicly Slam JD Vance, Drawing Fiery Response from Trump Jr.
The Insider reported that some GOP lawmakers "have felt that Vance’s claim that the endeavor was largely about 'bailing Europe out again' was an admission that he does not see the Houthis as a significant threat to U.S. national security despite the militant group having exploded a drone meters from the U.S. Embassy Branch Office in Tel Aviv in July and it being responsible for ongoing attacks on U.S. military vessels and allies."

“A number of Republican senators are very concerned about [his foreign policy views],” an anonymous GOP senator told the Insider. “They think it’s quite revealing. It reveals a mindset that I’m sure is perplexing to our European allies.”
    .......................
These seven cowardly neocons attacking J.D. anonymously are genuine p*****s. If they really feel this way, then they should at least be man enough to put their names to these quotes,” Trump Jr. told the outlet via statement. “The fact that they are too cowardly to do that is exactly why I’m so happy that these RINOs are a dying breed in our party -- whether they realize it or not.”

(It's unclear where Trump Jr. got the "seven" figure from, as the Insider did not give a specific number of respondents.)

Nothing, unless it's a criteria for selecting the director of the DOD.

    Are we really asking that?

We've had 8 years of non-stop issues that should have precluded the criminal Trump from being supported by the Republican Party or Republican voters anyone who considers themselves a true American. We know what happens next.

These are elected criminal enablers, who enable a criminal and a criminal administration. Just as Trumppublican voters are vote-casting criminal enablers who enable a criminal and a criminal administration.

The criminals are in charge. Good game America.

I respectfully disagree. The people involved in the chat, minus the reporter, are some of the most powerful in the world, in charge of the most powerful military in the world, funded by billions of our taxpayer monies. Yes, they are part of the opposite political party, so I can expect some policy differences from time to time, and for the record, I don't disagree with our actions in this matter. But what I should expect from persons in these high positions is integrity, acting in accordance to the law, and ownership when there is an egregious mistake.

We got none of that. We got the opposite. We got high ranking officials using Signal, sharing attack plans, and then lying about it to both Congress and the people. An old boss of mine used to say there are only two types of people who never admit mistakes in this world. Dead people and liars. If the head of the DoD and his top staff members are lying and covering up a mistake that everyone can now see in broad daylight, and even after said light, they still can't admit they screwed up, what else have they already done? What will be the next mistake they make? And considering we're talking about billions of dollars and the most powerful military, what we be the fallout next time?

Again, calling into question the policies of the POTUS and the head of the DoD is expected, especially when they represent the opposite party. But this goes far, FAR beyond policy. It goes towards basic competency and adherence to the law. Why shouldn't we expect the POTUS to nominate those who at the bare minimum, are competent and experienced, and won't break the law?

love this guy. the fact that he roomed with Gorsuch in law school and has been a long time friend since so he has bona fides with the in crowd is just a bonus

Don't worry, it will be in writing this time...don't think they are going to intimidate him

the fact that he drew this one after they already tried to run over him on the deportation issue is karma

'Don't worry, it'll be in writing': Judge in charge of lawsuit over Trump cabinet Signal group chat appears to reference dispute about restraining order in deportation case

Under the turbulent glare of national attention, a federal district judge on Thursday made comity the informal order of the day — while also promising to issue a restraining order against several members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet over the Signal group chat scandal.
    .........................

The judge told the parties he would issue a temporary restraining order enjoining the defendants “to preserve all Signal communications between March 11 and March 15 and then we’ll go forward from here.”

In what appeared to be another callback to the headwinds of his newfound national stature, Boasberg added, perhaps jokingly for the government’s benefit
    : “Don’t worry, it’ll be in writing.”

“The breach is serious, but security breaches can be plugged

Soldiers don’t need to be saints. But to be good soldiers, to complete their missions and protect their comrades, they do need a bedrock of integrity.

How could they trust their comrades and their leaders when their lives are on the line?

Instead, they have lied. They have mocked. The national security adviser, Michael Waltz, has called Mr. Goldberg “scum,” even though Mr. Goldberg took more care with sensitive military information than Mr. Waltz did. The head of the F.B.I. has not promised an investigation. Mr. Trump dismissed the affair as a “witch hunt.” They have treated this as a media event to be spun rather than a grievous error to be rectified.

They have behaved, in short, like people without honor. The lives of our service members are in their hands.”

Wow this is much worse than what we thought for Waltz if true. What kind of vetting did Walz do before hiring him and handing him over control of his personal device? How could the head of the NSA miss such damning information that BabyD1111229 on X was able to so easily find out?

Here we go! From lame, parroted rationalizations to full-blown, batshit-crazy conspiracy theories. Oh well, at least it works on MAGA.

    This crossed my mind...

Even if the phones they used were secure...
Even if no one exploited a bug in Signal...
Even if end to end encryption was used and no one broke the encryption...

The fact that a journalist was in the thread is a big red flag seeing that phone spyware like NSO Group's Pegasus is often used by governments to spy on journalists. Journalists are one of the biggest targets out there. If the journalist had malware on his phone, bad guys could read the texts after they were decrypted and displayed on the journalist's phone, completely negating how hardened the rest of the phones were and how secure the software was.

You're right, it's grey. I wonder why I thought it was blonde? He's pretty young (44) to have so much grey.

I see the biggest problem is that this is their MO, not the nuances of this one event such as the Waltz brainfart adding a journalist. In other words, I’m concerned how they’re going to protect our national security for the next 200 weeks (or however long it is) than this one op they skated by on luck. They’re showing no candor, remorse, and have not indicated much more than a token “we’re looking into it.”

Will they continue to use Signal in lieu of proper mediums like SCIFs, etc.? Signal may be relatively secure but the devices themselves are not rendering signal’s encryption meaningless on a receiving device.
