In college I genuinely loved their wings. I’ve found much, much better wings at local places since. Buffalo Wild Wings has never had great wings but does the sports bar experience better.
This is correct. I think Crawford Ker sold out ~2014 but remained on as CEO. At the time he said he did it so Ker's Winghouse could raise cash and expand their number of locations. Back then Ker's had 24 locations, now they're down to ~19. Ker's girls definitely had the hotter uniforms. Seems like the market for hot girls and wings softened. Maybe the hottest girls moved on to Only Fans and Tik Tok etc.
If I remember correctly, the original Hooters was on SR60 just across Courtney Campbell Causeway on the way from south Tampa to Clearwater Beach and Sand Key. Never thought Hooters would become a "thang". Spent many days on Sand Key back in the early/mid 70s.
Or the one on the ‘Cotee River in Pasco County. I remember one time one of the owners pulled up in his go-fast boat and all the girls dashed out to the dock leaving customers inside high and dry. Wasn’t a problem for my table since we were on the deck close to the dock enjoying the view of the girls all bending over the fancy boat to hug the owner.
In the last 6 months, I have been to a Hooters and a Twin Peaks, both in Louisville, Kentucky while I was travelling. The Hooters was dead and had terrible skinny wings devoid of meat. The next day I went to Twin Peaks, which was packed, the wings were delicious and the girls were beautifuler.
Looks like Gator great Crawford Ker is no longer with Wonghouse in any capacity. He got into the hotel business for 5 years and sold out. Ker's Winghouse was sued by Hooters when they started out: ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ A judge has thrown out a lawsuit in which the Hooters restaurant chain claimed that a Florida-based competitor ripped off its idea of dressing waitresses in skimpy outfits. Hooters loses lawsuit against Florida-based competitor Ker played 2 years for the Gators during which they lost just three games. Most of his NFL career was spent with the Dallas Cowboys
I had a Hooters girl living next to me years ago. One night I woke up about 3AM and was out of cigarettes so I walked out to my truck where I knew I had a pack in the glove box. I was in my underwear but I figured nobody would be out at 3AM anyway. So I am bending over getting the cigarettes out of the glove box and I heard a woman's voice say Oh! I turned around and there was Hooters girl wearing a short hooters top with no bra and a tight pair of panties. I apologized telling her what I was doing. She said "no problem I was just taking out the trash and didn't expect to see anybody at this time of night". We both chuckled as I lit myself a cigarette. She asked if I had a spare cig and a light. I gave her one and lit it for her like a gentleman. We stood out there and smoked our cigarettes and talked casually in our underwear. Don't know how we would have explained it if my wife or her boyfriend had come out and caught us.
Huh, that’s weird. When I go to Hooters in the Tampa area their wings are massive, like chickens on steroids, twice the size of most other places, it’s one of the things I like about them.
Reminds me of a British friend named Elbert. He helped frame pictures/artwork that I used to sell in Gainesville at 34th St and Archer Rd. Elbert wanted to help me sell pix so he could make extra money so I hired him for a weekend. At the Motel 6 we stayed at he told me a story where his 14 year old daughter had a classmate stay at his house one weekend on a sleepover. About 3am Elbert was having sex with his daughter's friend in a car parked in the driveway. The windows of the car got fogged up. Elbert wiped part of the window and looked up at his house. His wife was staring back at him from a second story window.
Docspor's wings. 1/2 cup soy sauce 1 tbs. Chinese 5 spice 1 tbs whole allspice berries 1 tbs. black pepper corns 4/5 cloves garlic 1/2 scotch bonnet peppers 1 onion 6 or so scallions 1 teaspoon salt optional: ginger, nutmeg, cloves, thyme grind dry ingredients first, then add the rest & blend it into a paste-y marinade marinate 3-4 lbs wings for at least 18 hours grill works well with shrimp (2 hr marinade), small chicken pieces, boneless thighs. I make beef jerky a lot & this works fantastically for that. once you make homemade jerky, store-bought is inedible.
I like to cook. A couple of places where I liked the wings told me they deep fry them first and when they get an order they sauce and grill them (or was it grill and sauce?).
I haven’t made it but my father does. Most times when people tell me they make some kind of food better than I can buy I think they’re FOS, but I believe people with beef jerky. It’s also hard to buy jerky that they haven’t dumped a bunch of sugar in it.
those are my exact memories. Dykstra had a similar boat. The parties were over the topless . Snuck into the original hooters on NYe when I was 16. Pretty sure I was in heaven for those few hours
it's really simple. other than this jerk ver, most every marinade I make for jerky has worcestershire sauce + whatever. You def want lean meat...fat does not dry out. I usually just buy precut strips (stir fry beef) for extra EZ.
Wives and girlfriends aren't the problem. Low-T soy boys who wouldn't look up from their phones if they were there are the problem.
