Looking at the stats, don't see much depth on the TT team and 5 guys played over 35 min in this one, 2 guys over 40 min.
Yeah, honestly Tech is not too different than the Maryland team we just beat. Two solid mobile big men and good three-point shooting guards. Without McMillan, they don’t have much more depth either. And they just played a very draining game.
I was glad that TT won. Arkansas is bigger and now at full strength for the first time in a while. Florida should dominate the Red Raiders, IF they limit turnovers and control the boards like they did against Maryland.
Haven’t watched them much this season. Our bigs look like they will be able to impose their will. They either don’t have a ton of depth or don’t play it because they had a ton of guys play around 35+ mins so hopefully fatigue and a letdown from their big last second win (similar to Maryland) is a factor. Run them off the court!!
I figured TT would win the game, but not in an easy fashion, and my fervent desire was for a close one, even an overtime game. Box checked! I'd be three times happier if it had gone to three overtimes, but I'll take what we got. Never thought I'd say this, but... props to Calipari and Arky. Even in a loss, they drove home the point that the SEC is THE power conference this season.
I watched some of the Arky/TT game until I fell asleep on the couch. Both teams looked a lot alike, so it'll probably be like facing a slightly better Arky on Saturday.
At this stage, I don't think physical fatigue is really a factor. These are 20-year-olds and will have a day of rest. It's the emotional fatigue that might show up for them. These OT games with so much on the line really drain that tank. Think of the UF vs. SCe game in the Elite Eight, following our Chioza buzzer-beater over Wiscy. We had the better team but looked like we were running in loose sand in that one.
That might be good for us. Keep us warm from the last game so maybe we won't come out cold and have as many turnovers as points by the half. Seriously, we are the one #1 seed that has yet to have a complete game in March Madness. We've had at most one half of a complete game but not 2 halves. We can't play like this going forward or there won't be anymore forward.
Got to solve the turnover problem. I thought 9 in the first half against UConn was bad - then we go and have 13 last night. We have seen the team regroup at halftime and thank Todd for that - but we can’t keep getting away with that. Really hope we come out sharp against TT. Go Gators
Money They prefer Duke vs. Alabama for the prime time spot. I don’t blame them. We would probably have the later spot if Duke had lost yesterday.
the number of turnovers and the type of turnovers is very concerning. It’s one thing to have a turnover due to great defense, but it seemed like a lot were self-inflicted. Just being careless with the ball. We must sharpen that up moving forward. If we can limit to 7 or less, we will be extremely hard to beat.
They only played 7 last night in an overtime game. Lots of minutes logged by the starters. I like that they made a comeback. Our guys won't get complacent if they get a lead knowing what TT did to come back down 16 in the 2nd half.
