The hearing that just ended with Gabbard and Ratcliffe (both on the signal apps) was incredible. The claim was that they weren't classified. Then, when a Democrat said: so how about we put out the whole thing, the response was that while they had not classified it, it is possible that somebody else did. Also, Gabbard couldn't confirm that she was part of the text chain, but she was overseas when she was engaged in the chat, and can't say what phone she used due to the investigation.
They could also be gambling that the reporter didn't save any screenshots of the obviously classified information in a good faith effort to take information security more seriously than our most senior government officials.
And the reporter removed themselves from the chat. He could have milked it for how long? Apparently, The Atlantic is a patriot and the rest morons.
The fallout is going to be the reporter is banned from this administration. And nothing else will happen
Better question would be, why are you using WhatsApp (same difference) to have discussions like this?
Only "libs" care about things like that. Stop with the "lib" talk. It's perfectly normal to use WhatsApp for stuff like this.
And doubtful that Johnson and Thune will open investigations into this stunning breach of national security anytime soon. That would be like doing their jobs. The excuse making is defining Democrats as the responsible adults in the room where our national security is concerned.
Next time they should just use TikToc just to make the point that there is absolutely no national security risk now that China has paid up, err donated time for pro bono work, err donated money to MAGA Party fundraisers, or whatever the hell this week’s bribe is.
Now it’s being reported they used disappearing messages on Signal in violation of federal law, on phones that weren’t cleared by the government. And one of the members (Witkoff) of the chat was actually in Moscow at the time of the conversation. No risk of the Russians spying on him while there, is there? Can’t make this shit up. We’re making plans to bomb another country and these morons are communicating using invisible ink on an unsupported app on unapproved phones like they are teenagers planning a keg party. But oops, someone invited mom and dad. And now they won’t even admit it was improper. And contrary to today’s testimony of liars, Goldberg has already clearly said they were texting attack plans, targets and times. It’s disgraceful. If the text contained nothing confidential, then let Goldberg release the transcript. Otherwise, STFU and admit the failure.
Because you have no idea what the hell you're doing? And now the general populace, who might have had some reservations about the MERIT of these appointments, are no longer in doubt. Unfit to serve.
See, I think they DO know what they're doing. Not that it isn't stupid, but I think there is a reason they are circumventing government provided phones and government protected networks. Again, same reason Hillary kept that private server. Skeevy move. Stupid and skeevy, along with wholly unnecessary.
