In Pete's defense, he is used to spreading news as far and wide as humanly possible. You would think someone would explain to him that war plans are NOT news items. Maybe do a show-and-tell kind of thing with him. Is Hegs the first defense secretary to openly commit treason?
I anticipate many of us here wouldn’t understand complexities of a coordinated military attack. However almost everyone here would have enough insight to know not to send out top secret messages if we don’t understand and know all the parties on a text message. it’s the combination of Hegs inexperience /hubris/ego that is causing problems for our military.
You forgot the part where where he said "I don't like The Atlantic" then called them a failing publication. Yeah, even MORE reason to NOT include them on a "top secret" group text.
The beauty is they did it for the exact same reason Hillary kept private servers. To shield it from potential FOIA requests.
I send messages all the time without knowing all the people. That’s kind of routine. If you use the proper infrastructure services, the system will take care of making sure the parties have the proper credentials to view the message.

probably conjecture. Why would they use Signal? Should private phones be used for sensitive information? Why wouldn't there be a pop up that say “non .gov user included”? So many questions. I suspect the spin will be to blame the prior admin for giving the new admin “tech that was flawed” and “bad consultants paid by prior admin”.
Exactly, secure messaging that the gov uses. Why wasn’t it used? That is what we should all be worried about.
No idea why they would use signal. It’s a secure open source app. Perhaps they don’t understand what “secure” means in this context. Would be interested in reading the details of the investigation though.
