Link is on Twitter but Im not spending my time posting that here since I'm not on twitter. I 100% agree with him on this, but also not sure how it doesn't violate the 1st? I guess they banned cigarette ads so maybe?
I've already got the Jardiens & Skyrizi jingles permanently stuck in my head so its too late for this to matter
Yep. I’m totally on board with this. I just don’t understand big ad campaigns for prescription meds. Especially for cancers and somewhat obscure diseases. But if one is a “free speech absolutist” it pretty plainly violates the 1st. So not sure how it stands up legally.
I think they used the "cant run ads that kids will see" angle for cigarettes. There are still cigarette ads in certain places.
Makes me think of the series 100. Us boomers also wouldn’t have,,, “ I have fallen and I can’t get up”
They can use the same argument here. Can't have my son hooked on Skyrizi trying to be like Thomas Haugh
Make it two birds with one stone and get the whole body deodorant commercials off the air as well. Those are just plain disgusting.
First thing the dude has ever said that I semi agree with. I say semi because I’m not sure about free speech implications, but the idea of marketing medications like potato chips is crazy.
True, all the song and dance numbers they do in the Jardiens commercials will get your kid thinking diabetes is cool, and also musical theater. Back when Wilford Brimley was saying diabeetus, it didnt seem fun at all.
Should require a disclaimer that says taking a bath will do the same or this isn’t a replacement for bathing.
Things I learn from watching TV at night … Half these drugs “may cause inflammation between the anus and genitals.”
If this happens, this would probably legitimately disrupt the podcast/radio/ad TV economy, particularly for those "free" streamer channels that run endless 90s TV episodes
I'm completely on board with this. Europeans think it's so weird when they visit and watch American TV.
Yeah, its a genuine problem. We also need to do something about all the "its ok for men" type ads too. "Dude Wipes" needs to go (as well as the "manscaping" stuff). It wont make you lose testosterone to use regular wipes, even baby wipes, which are all the same thing. I will judge you more needing to feel manly wiping your ass with a wet wipe.
Eventually SNL wont be able to do parody ads anymore because they will just have converged. Old Glory life insurance protecting against robot attack is just gonna be real.
