I like that the board isn't a complete echo chamber.

People like to hear and discuss the Gators-not praises for other teams-especially when the Gators are struggling-I can also PM you to explain things if you like

Show me the money I guess. $$$
    Maybe we got outbid.
However I know we didn't get outbid for Shelton two years from Alabama.

Who else???? Did you see Peterson pitch this weekend? Clemente has missed time. Kurland has missed a ton of time. Evans got hurt early and I think the hand is still an issue. Not even counting a handful of others that have missed games with short term stuff.

As for the portal.....I'm sure Sully will be glad to take your check to pay for that plug and play guy and 2 solid contributors. I'm sure a few million will do it.....maybe make it $10m just to be safe. Thanks in advance

As with the Federal government. The mantra seems to always be just give us more money, that'll fix the problem. Who wouldn't want a job where, when things go well, you get the credit? And when things go poorly, you blame lack of resources.

I think Sully has maybe proved himself just a little during his time here. No one has said he is perfect and no one has blamed this teams struggles purely on NIL funds. BUT, for people to act like he simply should have gone to the plug and play pitcher store and picked up a starter without recognizing the reality of the game at this point is crazy

This team is much more talented than they're performing.

I agree—now all the things we all are familiar with come into play. Baseball is a game that measures your success by measuring your failures. True.

A .300 BA is regarded as a successful season—that means 7 times out of 10 you made an out. True.

The kicker to this is be a tough damn out those 7 times. True, however we are not the tough out.

The game is all about peaks and valleys. Anybody can look/play good through their peaks. You gotta be tough as hell mentally to play hard while you’re mired in a valley so you can play your way out of a slump. True.

You shouldn’t expect to be applauded for making the routine plays—they brought you here to make the great plays. True.

Pitching is basically under the same guidelines with pitching stats applied. True.

It has ruined the game. Guardrails need to be put in place (aka salary cap) as it's out of hand. It's not sustainable.

Agree with the comments that we mostly struck out in the Portal on what wins championships or gets you to Omaha. And we all know it's... PITCHING! Barlow? Jenkins? No way they will add any fire power to a 2024 mediocre pitching staff that lost Neely. Not sure what the coaches were thinking- Waldrep was the last good get in the Portal. We lost a hoss in Neely and no one seems to have his grit from the Pen. The day-to-day Portal players are average at best-- Cyr the top of the crop and he seems lost at the plate half the time. A sober assessment leads to the conclusion that we were not bad before the slew of injuries but now are in serious trouble in the conference.

My worry is where we go from here after the season. That is, how many more pitchers are going to transfer? If we keep losing experienced guys and only replacing them with freshmen that aren't battle ready, we get what we get.

I bet A&M is killing it this year. Definitely loads of boosters willing to spend what they can to win a championship.

This is where I am at. You don't get waxed the way we have against fellow SEC teams (nevermind some of them occurring at home) without there being a mental issue at play. Talent is there for them to perform better than they have recently. Hopefully somewhat of a blip on the radar; it's still early, forget expectations...just do what needs to be done to make the postseason.

    Go GATORS!

Certainly not sustainable at most schools, uf included. Donor fatigue is already in play. Hopefully the new move to schools paying $20m+ across all sports will alleviate some pain. It won't eliminate NIL, but it can mitigate.

Losing quality transfers hasn't been a big issue. One might argue we invested too much in keeping the existing roster to be honest. But that's easy to say in hindsight.
Truth is, IF all the arms on staff are healthy and have a natural year of development it probably looks like a very good staff next year. We have 2 stud freshmen missing the season....always a bit of a wildcard on how quickly and effectively they return.

I heard this evening that we are expecting Peterson back next week as well as Coppola at some point. We need those starters back. If that is the case, King will move to Sunday starter.

For sure that would be best case scenario. I think we will get Liam back—Coppola is just starting to throw, I don’t know specifics, I don’t think anybody does, but I don’t really have a good feeling about it either.

To me that's best case long term....then Clemente can provide some form of long relief and get us to McNeilie and Philpott.
Somehow someway the young arms keep surviving midweek games....this week will be real challenging but overall that has worked out
