The Big 10 has always been a basketball powerhouse and they were very much overlooked this year by all the SEC hype this year, IMO. I think there would have been more credibility to the SEC is dominant theme if they had left Texas, Georgia and maybe Oklahoma out of the field. But with ESPN now in the contractual bed with the SEC, that's to be expected. Big 10 IS showing up very strong so far. I really don't care, though, as long as the Gators make it to the Final 4.
Auburn struggling vs Creighton but figure they will survive. 43-42. Haven't seen much from Broome but haven't watched the entire game.
9 three pointers for Creighton in the first half, but only 2 with 9 minutes left in the second as AU has taken an 8 point lead.
Another one bites the dust . . . let's see if WI stays alive. Duke Auburn Houston Tennessee Bama Texas Tech Mich St Maryland Kentucky Arizona Missouri Wisconsin Clemson St Johns Lville
Biggest Gator basketball game in a long time. I'm nervous as heck, but if the Gator boys show up, ain't nobody gonna beat 'em.
Houston holds on for the win. Clearly the Zags were underseated. I'm a little surprised by the margin but Vols are putting it on UCLA 51-35 ,10 min left.
ESPN doesn't have anything to do with the NCAA tournament. So, what does it have to do with the number of SEC teams to make the field?
One word - visibility. The SEC all season long was the talk of about every single sports media out there. It helped us to get 14 in the field.
I think the SEC should have had just 8 or 9 in the field. If you look at the 14 teams, Arkansas was the only team with a losing conference record to make it past the 1st game (actually made it to the Sweet 16 beating 2 very respectable teams). Oklahoma had no business even seeing the NIT, in most years a 6-12 conference record has you watching from the couch. Same with Texas. The Big 10 brought in only those teams with a winning conference record. They should have given our bottom 5 and spread those out to the other conferences, maybe even bring in an at-large mid-major.
Is Dan Hurley prophetic? Duke has shot 16-19 FTs to Baylor's 2-2 in the first half. +14 for Duke and they have a 15 point lead. 12 fouls called on Baylor to 6 for Duke.
Apparently, I was missing UConn on this list. UConn Duke Auburn Houston Tennessee Bama Texas Tech Mich St Maryland Kentucky Arizona Missouri Wisconsin Clemson St Johns Lville
