You skipped a few steps there in your summation of the Democrat's disenchantment with Musk.

And if you read below the headline, you would know that the initial plan was to give him a classified briefing on China, plans that changed after the NYT reported it.

Nor did mine. He's a douche. Always has been a douche. And always will be a douche.

At one point I thought he was smart, then he posted this and it became real clear he isn't. He just thinks he is.

The F-35 is a bar plane. Jack of all trades, master of none, hugely expensive. What a joke

Boeing awarded a $50B+ contract for the next gen fighter jet. Same Boeing that has quality control issues and strands astronauts in space.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth joined Trump at the White House for the announcement.

The piloted planes are to be fielded in the 2030s and would fight alongside semiautonomous drones, as the Pentagon seeks to gain a technological edge over U.S. adversaries.

The Pentagon hasn’t released cost estimates for the program. But experts say the total research, development and acquisition costs could top $50 billion. Lockheed Martin had been vying with Boeing for the contract.

The fighter’s future had been in doubt after the Biden administration opted to leave the final decision on how to proceed to the incoming Trump administration. Elon Musk, the billionaire and Trump ally, has publicly campaigned against manned aircraft, which he said were “obsolete in the age of drones.”

Who knows what was discussed. Anything is possible with Trumsk, who lies as fast as a dog can trot. What is unassailable is the fact that Musk was at a meeting at the Pentagon, with Hegseth, and he had no honest reason to be there. The conflict of interest is massive.

"But his unusual closeness to the administration and a top-level meeting at the Pentagon bring the mercurial billionaire in closer proximity to secretive work, deepening his conflicts of interest. In seeking friendly governments for his business interests, Musk has cozied up to Beijing to broaden the market and production for his Tesla electric vehicles."

But there is no drone that can touch it, especially these little pissant things they use for light shows.

And it will blow anything your loser bosses have out of the sky, including all three (if that) working SU-57s.

this is a total bogus story by the New York Times. I just listened to someone from the defense department talk about it. They will try to find out who anti-Trump leaker in the Pentagon was because that’s probably where it came from but it’s total bogus and amazes me that you libs believe this crap.

Interesting how Mr. Dumbass doesn't realize that F-35s and all new aircraft will command their own drones. So, imagine a flight of 6 Next Gen/F-35s, each with 5 drones and all radar, electronics, etc. from each connected up. That's how it will ACTUALLY look, as opposed to Mr. Dumbass' view of the future with swarms of little drones that are too slow and don't possess the range to touch a modern fighter. Oh, BTW, they will be able to be manned or unmanned. So, again, dumb point Elon.

This stuff really isn't' that hard to find, so think about this the next time you want to anoint Musk as the "smartest guy in the world".

Why would somebody at the State Department know about a meeting at the Pentagon? You realize that those are entirely separate departments, right?

Sounds more like the story wasn't popular.

    oops defense dept

The New York Times was notified yesterday afternoon/evening that this was not a true story and they went it anyway because their whole purpose is anything just like you lives on here. Your whole purpose is to do anything you can to try and tear down Donald Trump and now Elon Musk along with it.

Not too many drones can touch the speed and payload of a modern fighter jet. And some targets need a larger payload. Musk is not too bright.

So when the WSJ ran it too (based upon different sources), is that the purpose of the WSJ too?

Wow, who knew that Rupert Murdoch spends all his time figuring out how to tear down Trump? Seems like a totally reasonable argument and not simply an attempt to deflect from news that you would hate if the guy you didn't support was doing it.

Musk was at a meeting, at the Pentagon, with Hegseth. There are photos of post-meeting bon homie, and much laughing back-slapping, outside the meeting room. I can't see any reason for Musk to be there.

$50B seems insanely cheap. I feel like that's either a typo, or just the costs to develop the prototypes (and it still seems cheap).
