Pretty obvious that you believe that Trump is the US. "L'etat, c'est moi" is always a good basis for government.

When did the President become synymous with the country herself? One can't like a country and question its President at the same time? Or, like in authoritarian countries, the President is the state!

We have no idea how the French scientist feels about the USA. His phone reportedly had no statements about the country. Hec was, by amounts, not a fan of our President. And that's why he was denied entry.

If this doesn't equate to Trump equals the country, like authoritarian leaders feel, then pray tell, how else are we supposed to interpret this? And should I fear leaving the country because I might not be let back in? My phone has plenty anti-Trump sentiments on it.

give me a break. Denying entrance to an academic conference because of text messages? That is insanity. This is a bullshit reason from the French. This one goes to check column for Rubio doing the right thing. The article was “updated”.

“The French researcher in question was in possession of confidential information on his electronic device from Los Alamos National Laboratory — in violation of a non-disclosure agreement — something he admitted to taking without permission and attempted to conceal,” she said.

Example of the stupidity of what is not happening: The United States is hosting the World Cup next year (during Trump’s term). That is a lot of players and fans around the world who have to scrub their texts before entry. For real?

Well if it wasn't for the pussies on the left we wouldn't have half the dumb laws we have now.
Our President is bringing values and respect back to our country.
Just relax and some more of your gummies

Huh? Read my post #29. Did you read the article? They put right in the article the Admin’s response. The OP’s post title is misleading.

@flgator2 — what’s “funny” about my post. You think Rubio got it wrong?

Is there a court case that has upheld Ben's interpretation or should we just agree with everything Stephen Miller postulates? That is one of his arguments for using these types of powers normally woelded by rational actors and not a delusional snowflake on a retribution power trip. We are a nation founded on due process and equal protection. No law congress passes will change that. It seems others prefer a dictatorship where one person has ultimate authority based merely on their feelings. I do not. Do you support laws that bypass due process?

So can one like the USA while being critical of Trump or am I now a traitor not worthy of rights?

Lots of foreign basketball players, including several on UF’s team, you think any one of them should be deported willy-nilly if they merely have an opinion or are critical of some policy the U.S. has? You are effectively saying they have no free speech rights and no due process.

Sorry comrade, but that’s both insane and unAmerican even when it comes to foreign visitors - they get free speech and due process. If this law exists, it needn’t necessarily be repealed by congress as it’s pretty obviously unconstitutional if used in the way you suggest.

As far as the French researcher: Supposedly there is a competing story with this researcher coming from the U.S. side, that he had some information on his phone he wasn’t supposed to be carrying. That explanation seems suspect to me (what, was he smuggling it *into* the country?… and how would a border patrol be aware of his NDA obligations?…. but I guess we’ll see).

What about citizens who don't like the USA? Or presidents who incite them to violence through a litany of lies?

That didn't answer my question. Does one have to like Trump in order to like the US?
