I would not be surprised to find substantial waste by the DOE. I just don't see that bureaucracy operating in a cost-effective manner.

Sounds like you know quite a lot about this. Can you elaborate?

Maybe, and I’m sure there are inefficiencies. But we need more than “Rep. Harriet Hageman” says so. Or as she claims the “brilliance of DOGE” as they’ve been repeatedly found to make false claims.

Any teachers here? Thoughts on trump eliminating the DoE? Or anyone have insights?

Mostly dismantling the DOE will hurt low income families, students with special needs, and students will lose civil rights protections. I expect the Trump administration will say those programs will still be around but will be transferred to other agencies. That will take time causing confusion at the state levels, but with DOGE cutting other agencies as well I can assure you the whole thing will be a disaster.

They will say lie this, but moreso they will transfer the funding needs to state/county levels.

Then when people have a choice between increasing their own taxes or not matching prior fed funding, services will be cut. And these will obviously be services that had gone to the most vulnerable and least well off.

It's clear as the noses on our faces that this is just part of the GOP effort to dismantle public education. And who does that benefit - the average person, or the rich?

The only fun part will be being able to laugh at MAGAs when they realize that they were duped by criminals and frauds ..... when they fell for the standard Trumpy/DOGE bullshit about fake "fraud." Of course, it will be more sad to watch people suffer, but .... silver linings at this point.

The DOE was never a good idea. DEI, Department of Egregious Indoctrination... part of the DOE is going to DIE a hard death. Good riddance.

The DOE helps with funds to educate those with disabilities. Why do you and Rick hate the disabled?

What will happen is in red states the money will be funneled to rich white areas while the inner city schools will suffer. Meanwhile in blue states where education is valued schools will prosper and future leaders will all be liberal.

The Heritage Foundation and their hatchet man Musk have learned the lessons of Apartheid, 1930's Germany and ISIS. An uneducated, brainwashed society is easily controlled. They have half the country completely brain washed, now they are coming for the rest of us.

The worst part of all of this is how many $Billions we are going to have to spend to undo all of the damage these self-serving, hate mongering, ignorant morons are doing to our country.

One of the functions of the Dept. of Education is to create and administer testing that is used to determine whether students from a state, county, or school district are failing or succeeding. Back in the 1990's and before, there were claims from school administrators that amounted to 90% of the schools in America being above average. After the standardized testing, the vast majority of schools could not make that claim. Now, we can get back to the days when 90% of the schools can claim that they are above average. Some day, under Trump, we will be able to have all of the schools claim that they are above average. Seems like something Trump would do. We can get away from performance-based education for children of all races, and get back to random false claims for education excellence among white students.

I believe we do standardized testing on fourth and eight graders. What are the earliest scores we have for them? How do they compare to current scores?
