Ukraine pushing their air power forward. hope they hit the crimean bridge next

Major blow for Putin after airstrike destroys key supply bridge

Ukrainian troops have destroyed a bridge used by Russia to supply its troops in occupied Kherson.

The bridge, over the Konka river, was hit by airstrikes which destroyed two sections of the bridge, sending them crashing into the water below.

The Konka is a tributary of the nearby Dnipro, which is classed as the de facto border between Ukraine- and Russia-controlled areas of the Kherson region.

no bueno. sounds like a large concentration of fiber optic drones was used by the russians

i guess the good thing is this pulled a lot of resources from elsewhere. seems like Ukraine could be making hey there now

'Everything is finished': Ukrainian troops relive retreat from Kursk

Ukrainian soldiers fighting in Russia's Kursk region have described scenes "like a horror movie" as they retreated from the front lines.
The BBC has received extensive accounts from Ukrainian troops, who recount a "catastrophic" withdrawal in the face of heavy fire, and columns of military equipment destroyed and constant attacks from swarms of Russian drones.
    ................
Movement of men, logistics and equipment had been reliant on one major route between Sudzha and Ukraine's Sumy region.
Volodymyr said it was possible to travel on that road relatively safely a month ago. By 9 March it was "all under the fire control of the enemy - drones around the clock. In one minute you can see two to three drones. That's a lot," he said.

"We have all the logistics here on one Sudzha-Sumy highway. And everyone knew that the [Russians] would try to cut it. But this again came as a surprise to our command." At the time of writing, just before Russia retook Sudzha, Volodymyr said Ukrainian forces were being pressed from three sides.

    powerful read

US medic describes horrors of Ukraine frontline – but says hearing Trump pontificate about peace is more traumatic

Rebekah, a trauma nurse based in Denver, with experience in humanitarian work in Central America, volunteered when Ukraine called for help after Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. She came on a five-week leave period and never went back. Volunteering in teams on the front lines and running evacuations of civilians and soldiers, she built up a social media following which allowed her to raise an estimated $300,000 for supplies to her teams.
    .........................
There are pockets of troops wounded and hiding in dugouts in the rubble of Toretsk – still holding against a Russian advance while Vladimir Putin mulls a ceasefire offer from Trump. The two men are expected to talk this week.

“We’re getting about 300g of water to them a day. Food, medicine, we drop it in from drones that were adapted to drop bombs because we cannot get the soldiers out overland,” she tellsThe Independent from her secret location close to Toretsk.Troops there are able to survive, often with appalling wounds, because the drone packages of medicines dropped to them are backed up by Rebekah and doctors who talk them through how to treat themselves while holding back frequent Russian attacks across the shattered landscape.

Her evacuation teams include medics and Ukrainian soldiers, who drive to rescue wounded troops in the ambulance version of the ancient American-supplied M113 Bradley vehicles on the edge of Toretsk, and along a wide section of the eastern front near Konstaninivka.

Thirteen Days stars Kevin Costner and chronicles those tense days, of the Cuban Missile Crisis, when JFK and Kruschev, TALKING DIRECTLY to one another (or closest envoys), staved off nuclear conflagration.

buy your european defense stocks now

Germany's likely next leader wins parliament's backing for huge defense and infrastructure spending

BERLIN (AP) — Germany’s would-be next chancellor, Friedrich Merz, won lawmakers’ approval Tuesday for ambitious plans to loosen the nation’s strict debt rules for higher defense spending as doubts mount about the strength of the trans-Atlantic alliance, and to set up an enormous fund for investment in its creaking infrastructure.
    ............................
The plans needed a two-thirds majority of at least 489 votes in parliament’s lower house, the Bundestag, because they involve changes to Germany’s strict self-imposed borrowing rules — the so-called “debt brake,” which allows new borrowing worth only 0.35% of annual gross domestic product and is anchored in the constitution. That forced the prospective coalition partners into negotiations with the environmentalist Greens to get enough votes.

The package will exempt from the debt rules spending on defense and security, including intelligence agencies and assistance to Ukraine, worth more than 1% of GDP. It also foresees a 500 billion-euro ($544 billion) fund, financed by borrowing, to pour funding into Germany’s infrastructure over the next 12 years and help restore the stagnant economy — Europe’s biggest — to growth.

Z needs to felate Trump ASAP.

It won't overcome Trump's status as a Russian asset, but he needs to get in front of Trump turning this into him.

What Donald "said" after the call.

"We had a good talk. Talked about lots of things. The deal is good, it's a good deal, better than anyone ever could negotiate. The war never would have started if I was president. And I am the only one who could stop it. The war would never stop under Crooked Joe. PS buy a Tesla"
