Major kudos to the pitching, limited horns to only 2 hits. Being a Texas girl Ava s/b very happy shutting them down and getting the save. Good confidence builder.
Red gets a win against Texas with a very nice two inning save from Ava. We're OK. The sky isn't falling.
3-3 to start out SEC in which i think is the toughest schedule to start out SEC. I really don't think any other team starts out 3-3 if they had to face Texas and A&M in back to back weekends to start sec. Per announcers we have the toughest remaining schedule. Auburn and Arkansas are very sweepable series.
Two top 5 series without our best pitcher and we came out 3-3, so we did OK. Giving Keagan an extra week will pay off later.
Live it looked foul to me. The views up the line from both sides, I was having a hard time seeing it as fair. The last view they showed from the first base side that was zoomed in well, and in slow motion it did look like she picked it up right off the chalk. It was close, but that last view made it almost impossible to call it anything other than the way it was called on the field, imo.
I think the call was upheld was because her foot was on the bag, fair territory and she caught the ball off the chalk, the ball had not gone foul yet.
I always trust that CTW knows what he's doing. Can someone please explain this to me. Big moment in the game -- no outs, runners 1B and 2B. Remove Holtorf (.310) insert Barnard (.167). CTW obviously knows their averages so there must be something else in the strategy -- what?
I think the rule is that the player's position in fair/foul territory is irrelevant. Chalk is fair territory and Blue ruled that the ball was still in fair territory when Kenleigh touched it. Unless I'm mistaken, her foot doesn't matter -- she could be standing in foul territory when playing the ball and it wouldn't make a difference. Agree that live it looked foul. And what a huge call = Runners 2B and 3B one out is totally different than runner 2B and two outs. If that call went the other way......
It's usually a match up thing...thinks a hitter is better vs what the pitcher relies on, or maybe just a gut feel. Could be one was really seeing the ball well in bp or whatever they did yesterday and deserved an at bat
CTW rewards good practices. He has said practices are all about him and the game is all about the players.
As always, thanks for the PBP, MCB51. I like coming home and reliving/thinking about some strategy moments from the game and PBP is great for that!
I'll take the call but she caught the ball in foul territory before the bag. Makes no difference where her foot was at the time. It hit the line...went foul before she actually caught it.
For a Monday, very good crowd imho. Not to far off from the Saturday games. Berms a little less crowded, seats a little more crowded (maybe the berm people filled in).
