If the right wing court members had any integrity they would throw this out laughing at the president. Since they are all scumbags who have long been bought and paid for, I will not be shocked if they side with the president and effectively end our Constitutional democray.

Interesting way to by pass the constitutional process for abolishing an amendment or adding an amendment to the constitution.

upload_2024-3-2_20-50-29.jpeg This is so blatantly unconstitutional that it will take the mother of all vacation packages for even Clarence "I'm for Sale Cheap" Thomas to make it 8-1.

Another example showing that MAGA does not respect the Constitution

I always thought that conservatives were textualists who believed that when it comes to interpretation the Constitution says what it says. If that's the case the 14th Amendment is rather clear that one born in the United States is an American citizen even if the intent of the citizenship language in the Amendment was intended to apply to former slaves and their children.

There is a high chance that this SCOTUS unwinds Wong Kim Ark and redefines “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”.

you are correct- however I think the 14th amendment was for those who we wrongly excluded and not for illegals who broke the law to come into the US illegally and drop a kid-

I believe that is quite literally one of the reasons the 14th exists, since the international slave trade was illegal and many were imported under highly illegal circumstances and had children

How is a child born in this country an illegal? What did the newborn child do that raises your ire to label him as an “illegal”? The newborn child didn’t cross a border, nor did that child have any knowledge of any act, other than an instinct to eat and breathe?

The constitution doesn’t instill citizenship on the illegal parent, it bestows citizenship on the child that was born inside its borders.

Where’s the consistency? You have screamed at the top of your lungs that an unborn child has the full set of rights guaranteed to the living. How can you now say that they only get those rights if … they have the proper parental lineage?

If the 14th is supposed to be about slave children only, why doesn't the 14th mention slavery or slaves?

I am against illegals coming into the US illegally and dropping a kid who automatically is an American citizen - doubt Trump wins this one but hope springs eternal

So you are against the constitution? Got it.

Then I’m against people who test low on standardized tests having access to firearms.

I am for those who we illegally passed by and treated as second hand citizens- whose families were brought here in slavery- I am not for what is going on today- and think we need to amend the Constitution to exclude baby drops by illegal aliens- wanting to amend the Constitution is hardly being anti- Constitution

Weird. You say you're for one thing ....... but you seem to support your felon doing something entirely different. And unconstitutional.

Strange that you could be unaware of this inconsistency, but ...... not surprising.

I think what bill is saying is that someone who has committed a criminal act shouldn't be rewarded with the golden ticket that is US citizenship.

I disagree, I think babies born inside our borders are citizens, regardless of their parent's status. Aren't we having somewhat of a birthrate crisis? The more the merrier!

Indeed, America is a place where a criminal can become president

I don't think the Presdient wins this one either, but it would be nice to clear up the meaning of "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof,". If it was meaningless, why was it put into the amendment?

To a number albeit not most of his voters Trump's criminal conviction was a feature rather than a bug in his campaign for another term. A number of them were so proud to do they even purchased T-shirts like this.
