With the ballgame on tonight Ms. Jan is making her homemade chicken pot pie. Sour dough buttered & toasted bread on the side. Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are on hand. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Tonight it is leftovers. Got to clean everything out to be ready for the weekend. Pleasant weather so it’ll be ice cold longnecks and chilled wine this evening. Life is good in Gator Nation.
Had to pick up an Rx at Walmart today so grabbed another package of OM all beef hot dogs and a package of Martini's potato buns. Both "bun length"! The perfect fare for what is shaping up to be some fantastic ball games tomorrow and this weekend!
Breakfast out on the back porch this morning consisting of black coffee, OJ, fresh strawberries and cantaloupe, pancakes, eggs over easy, and patty sausage. The start to a great day and hopefully a win in game 3. Icing down the longnecks for an afternoon of Gator Baseball!
Tonight our family will be together to enjoy Ms. Jan’s Sunday pot roast and gravy, homemade mashed potatoes, fresh zipper peas, and fried cornbread. I am in charge of making the cornbread. A tumbler of bourbon and chilled wine will be available. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Hey Bill..... Differently prepared than other days of the week? Or not usually prepared other days of the week? Shout out to Ms Jan!
Just Sundays—always been that way from the time I was a boy. Ms. Jan already knew how to cook but she will tell you quick that she learned how to cook Sunday pot roast from my Mama.
Cornbeef and cabbage for anyone here? Not me. Busy with the objective of buying another motorcycle today. All went well - picked her up in Winter Springs - about a 1 hour drive. Traffic not bad at all, surprisingly. Seller was an Army vet and his buddy from the Army was also there visiting from California. They've been trying to get a VW Golf up to speed so he can drive it back to Cali. This bike will need a little work to get her going but nothing I can't handle. I didn't even wear green today - except for the greenbacks in my pocket I carried to do the deal! Happy St Patrick's to all!
Nope. Grilled some NY strip steaks with baked potatoes and asparagus as sides. Now today I am braising a corned beef as they are on sale now that it is past Saint Patty's Day. I never boil corned beef. That is the way my mom cooked it and it was always stringy and never sliced well. I slowly braise it in the oven after first browning it in a large skillet and then putting it a well sealed roaster with about 1/2 cup of water and topped with sliced onions and garlic. Oven at 275 F for 5 hours.
Tonight we’re having teriyaki beef and broccoli served over fried rice. Today’s weather was perfect. A morning low of 40*, a high of 71* with plenty of sunshine. Ice cold longnecks and chilled wine are available for the ball game. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Cowboy Rib-Eye reminds me of Chateaubriand. Enough meat for two. Probably great. Blackening a redfish makes a trash fish palatable IMHO. It was a genius move by Paul Prudhomme and made a trash fish semi-protected when it became over fished. When I was a kid I threw them back. Too fishy. Even fishier than mackerel but close. I'd much rather catch a flounder, snapper or a sheepshead. So many ways to make grouper and mahi-mahi (us old school guys called it dolphin and knew it wasn't Flipper) as a MUCH tastier fish. Put all the variants of snapper in there as well as better tasting fish. Actually I would prefer a shark steak done right over any version of redfish.
Making chicken tinga for tacos. Also making Mexican skillet corn. Not elote that is the typical Mexican street food corn and very tasty. This is seared corn nibblets with serranos, cilantro and lime juice.
