Makes you not even want to play the tournament. Stay home, rest up, take the 2 seed and play closer to home in front of your fans.
We have only failed to reach a Final Four once in our previous seasons when winning the SECT. That was the first one in 2005. Since then we have made the F4 each time we win the SECT.
That's what I'm talking about. All the work we did by beating a 6 seed, a 2 seed and another 2 seed that just beat the #1 overall seed yesterday in the conference tourney and they didn't even think of bumping us up off the lowest #1 seed. They didn't care one bit. We are the worst 1 seed in their eyes. The committee probably gets pissed when someone gets a conference tourney auto bid that wasn't supposed to and they actually have to get off their lazy butts and do some work and reseeding.
UK got a 3 seed as if they are a top 12 team..I guess that lucky win by a point over OU and getting waxed by Bama by almost 30 actually allowed them to move up to a 3 seed. They were ranked 15 and have major injury concerns as well.
And yet at the end of the day, beating them did nothing to their own seeding. In fact, I'd argue it only made their loss against us look better. It's ironic that us winning the title probably got teams into the tourney or got them a better seed.
The top quarter of the East & West Regions (1, 16, 8, 9) play their first weekend games in Raleigh. Auburn plays their first weekend in Lexington, Houston in Wichita. So being in the West actually keeps the Gators closer to Gainesville. The Sweet 16 & Elite 8 games are in Atlanta, Newark, Indianapolis & San Francisco. To me, the match-ups are much more important than the location of the games. I like our bracket.
THE biggest aspect: Senior guards and leadership. You can NOT coach that. This is a damn good team to get to the FF.
