Florida moved on to the SEC Tournament semifinals after knocking off Missouri and though they had to wait for the game after them to find out who they’d face, it didn’t take long to realize it was going to be the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama entered the game as the higher seed so they were favored to beat Kentucky to advance to play the Gators, and when the Wildcats’ best defender Lamont Butler was ruled out before the game it looked even more clear that the Crimson Tide had the advantage and that’s exactly what played out. Though Kentucky played admirably to keep the game somewhat within reach for the first half Alabama’s offensive firepower was too much in the second which resulted in a blowout 99-70 win.

UF -3.5 but I don't have a good feeling here.

    Bama looked unbeatable last night

It’s crazy how Florida @ Alabama was for the final one seed supposedly and now the winner of this one seemingly becomes a one. As if our win IN TUSCALOOSA never happened.

The "Committee" (re: television) will put who they want where they want them and then BS their way to "explain why" it was done. Our kids can't lose. #1 seed and they have to carry those expectations and know they have a big target on their backs so no slow starts and no letdowns. #2 seed . . . extreme disrespect and a chip on their shoulders . . . and the Gumps know they didn't deserve that last #1 seed.

Beating them head-to-head on the Gumps floor should carry more weight than an SECT game; but there's more.

Before the SEC Tournament, I believe Alabama was 6-4 their last 10 games . . . with a loss to Florida on their home court!

I believe Auburn was 7-3 . . . also with a loss to Florida on their home court!

Florida went 9-1 with, like I said, wins AT Auburn then AT Alabama.

In my mind, no question Florida should get a #1 seed regardless of today's results.

If I'm wrong somewhere with my numbers, somebody please correct me. Thanks.

If Bama hadn’t beaten Auburn, this is all a moot point. But the fact is that their schedule was elite, especially out of conference, like Auburn’s. Our OOC is the only thing keeping this close. They played 16 Q1A games (11-5) against our 9 (6-3). That’s real, and the committee absolutely has to take that into account. But they are on record as saying the resume is not impacted by when these games happened. That would obviously benefit us, the last 10 (or whatever it used to be) is no longer part of the equation.

Silver lining is that being a 2 seed will piss this team off. They should be a 1. Sucks they have to beat Bama twice but we are a match up nightmare! We win by 12 today and beat Aubie again and take the top overall seed to shove it right up Lunardi’s and the committee’s you know what!

It's a great day and a good opponent with payback on its mind.

Four really good teams. The loosest and funnest will cut down the nets tomorrow and possibly in a few weeks.

Against an injury depleted UK team. We have had Alabama’s number the last two years, we’ve got this.

The committee has had an Alabama love affair the last two seasons. They weren’t deserving of a top 4 seed last year, either, but still got one because they played a tough OOC schedule (while losing almost all those games mind you). Yes, Alabama made the Final Four but it doesn’t change the fact that their resume was more of a 5 or 6 seed.

Sure, and those losses were to Auburn, Mizzou, Tennessee, and us, with wins over Auburn, Miss St, and Kentucky twice. The committee always says WHEN you lose is irrelevant. Who you lose to and where you lose or them is relevant (as well as who you beat and where).

Even if Alabama wins today there is no justification them over Florida. We beat them at home, so that’s more impressive than a neutral setting, and they would still have 7 losses (8 depending on if they lost in the finals). No team has ever been a 1 seed with 8 losses and 7 would tie the record for most losses. The overrating of Alabama has got to stop.

I fixed the title. The official Florida graphic said SECN so that's what I went with. We want folks able to find the game. Thanks!
