The Democratic Party’s brand is in rough shape in the congressional battlegrounds.

Nearly two months into the second Donald Trump administration, a majority of voters in battleground House districts still believe Democrats in Congress are “more focused on helping other people than people like me,” according to an internal poll conducted by the Democratic group Navigator Research. Among independents, just 27 percent believe Democrats are focused on helping them, compared with 55 percent who said they’re focused on others.

The polling, shared first with POLITICO, is one of the first comprehensive surveys of voters in swing congressional districts since November 2024. House Democratic members and staff are scheduled to hear from one of the researchers, who will present their findings, at their caucus’ Issues Conference on Wednesday in Leesburg, Virginia. The meeting is aimed at guiding members’ messaging as they prepare for the 2026 midterms, and the survey suggests the party has an enormous amount of work to do to repair its image.

The above is from the article:

Interesting that the Democratic party released this polling to Politico, Probably wanter to wake up members as soon as possible.

I think by 2026, both major parties will be very unpopular. I've heard a lot from friends and coworkers about looking for an independent or third option.

The two major parties are corrupt. The Dems learned a hard lesson and the pubs will soon.

Yeah, the Democrats have plenty of problems but worth noting that the Republicans lost a House seat in 2024. I'm not sure either party should feel great about the 2026 midterms.

I can believe this, which is why I predicted a Trump win many months before it happened.

The Democrats need to figure out how to market to people willing to vote for a felon rapist who criminally tried not to transfer power.

I'm pretty sure the answer will be in finding the right lies to tell about immigration, economics and transsexuals. Among a few other things.

    That's what worked last time.

I thought Musk and DOGE cut off money to Politico?

These opinion polls only really influence Presidents with low self-esteem and low self-confidence. Trump is in his last term, and he could NOT care less about opinion polls.

    Gas prices are coming down.
    Egg prices are coming down.
    Mortgage prices are coming down.
    Inflation is slowing down.

And the Congress has still NOT yet even passed that Big Beautiful Bill.

The real question is whether there will be a Democratic Party in 2 years.

Democrats are eating themselves alive. No leadership whatsoever. You must be ignoring reality if you think Democrats are a healthy party right now. If you are proud of your liberal party, then nothing I will say you will comprehend.

This is the kind of BS people say in public, and then actually voting shows almost all of them are full of false bravado, and then go vote along party lines like good and obedient party members.

Only the Democratic Party could f-bar this election. Repubs have empowered a wannabe dictator, an unelected moron has illegally accessed the personal financial information of everyone in the country, we have illegally fired thousands, prices are spiraling out of control because the moron-in-chielf does not understand business or economics (do we really want the idiot who bankrupted his company 5 times running our economy), we have a HHS Secretary who is an idiot that makes money off lying about vaccines and on and on......

Yet, Democrats will get wiped out in the 2026 elections because the morons running the party still think appealing to the left-most fringe of the party is the path to success.

Agreed, it's early too, but I've never heard this much chatter about it only a month and a half into their term in office. It feels different this time.

This has the ring of truth to it but it’s a political climate lifetime until the midterms, especially with the actions of the administration trying to speed run a recession.

    ^This. All of it.

We've got to outflank the Trumppublicans. Immigrants are eating farm animals? Wait - that almost seems normal. Cannibals?

Sucks that Trump already took that "schools are performing illegal gender-change surgeries" one.

    You guys are funny. Democrats:
    • 2018 picked up both houses in huge blue wave
    • 2020 won President, House, Senate flipped 2 GA seats
    • 2022 Lost a historically low number of House Seats in recent history (the red trickle) for a midterm and held Senate lineup
    • 2024 Picked up House Seats, lost a close presidential race, won all state wide elections in NC, and held every Governorship, but had a historically tough Senate map.
No one will dispute those statements.

We will see continued close elections when democrats are incumbents and blowouts when the GOP are incumbents. Been the trend. People forget how bad the GOP are until they are running things into the ground.

Perhaps. But there would be no sexual assaulter felon on the ticket, telling racist lies and promising to free violent criminals who'd attacked police as part of the candidate's criminal conspiracy.

So my candidate probably would not win your vote.
