not sure what that will mean as far as our relationship with Canada Mark Carney wins race to replace Trudeau as Canadian prime minister
I saw an interview of his about a month ago. The guy is intelligent, reasonable, and well spoken. I expect Trump to hate him. Carney has already said the US started the trade war and that Canada is not interested in the 51st state bullshit so I’m not expecting a change unless it’s from Trump.
Well, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from Harvard University in 1988, going on to study at Oxford University, where he earned a master's degree in 1993 and a doctoral degree in 1995, so yeah Trump will hate him. Interesting is the Conservatives in Canada were riding high until Trump got elected, and then the Liberal Party got new life. Liberal Canadians say:
He seems pretty clear on it https://www.politico.com/news/2025/...ark-carney-to-replace-justin-trudeau-00220148
OT - we visited Oxford last December. I was left much more impressed than our visits to Duke or Yale. the selection process to get in there is rigorous, the list of world leaders that have graduated there is impressive. odd thing..if you aply to Oxford, you cannot apply to Cambridge, and vice versa
New Canadian PM Mark Carney vows to fight US trade war ‘until Trump shows respect’ Canada’s new prime minister, Mark Carney, has vowed to take on Donald Trump and urged his country to unite in a defiant acceptance speech during a fierce trade war with the United States. .............................. During his speech Mr Carney said: “The Canadian government has rightly retaliated with tariffs. We will keep our tariffs on until the Americans show us respect. “We did not ask for this fight. But Canadians are always ready when someone else drops the gloves. Make no mistake, Canada will win.” He then turned his attack on Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, who he said "worships at the altar of Donald Trump”. While the Conservative party has been gaining ground in recent months, like in other Western democracies, a surge in Canadian nationalism amid aggression from the US over trade and threats to make Canada America's 51st state has bolstered the Liberal Party's chances in the parliamentary election expected within days or weeks. ......................... Mr Carney’s fiery stance marks a dramatic shift in the rhetoric of Western leaders speaking out against Mr Trump, and will be watched closely by those in the UK and Europe, with the US president vowing to put tariffs on the EU, which he said was created to “screw” the United States.
Canada wants to be part of Europe so badly. That once owned colony longs for the days when they were subjugated by Britain, and they still have that loyalty to them. It's an amazing mindset. I could not imagine longing to be a second rate subjugated people like they are. Let's seem being Britain's B!t@h... or being part of the greatest nation on Earth? Lol... interesting. But I'm just having fun. If someone tried to make my country their state, I would probably rise up too. Unless I lived in Alberta....
Trump ultimately did so apparently after Epstein made a play for the teenage daughter of another member.
