I hate the thought of playing them there. Such a pro-UK crowd. But would be curious to see how we compare after playing then so early in conference play. Feels like a season ago already.
What a perfect Senior Day - couldn't have asked for a better regular season finale. Sure wish Senior Bennett would have made that shot - so close!
I watched it on a delay and because the game before ours ran long, the first 10 minutes wasn't available. Overall, it was a very impressive win over a solid Ole Miss team. We dominated the boards and Walter Clayton had an excellent game. Condon, Martin, Chinyelu and Haugh had very good games as well. Aberdeen had an off night with only 3 points, 3 fouls and 3 turnovers. And Richard shot only 3-12, 2-10 shooting 3's. But that's what makes this team so great. Not every guy is going to have a great game every time out and a guy or two is going to have an off night now and then. But the TEAM picks them up. We are so deep, froncourt and backcourt, and they play for each other. And on top of that there is a lot of pure talent. The only real team negative I saw was 9 turnovers in the first half, 14 for the game. And they need to clean that part of their game up if they want to be a Final 4 team. But this game was dominated by the refs, who called 42 fouls and just kept the game dragging and sluggish to me. The best officiated games are those where you hardly notice them and tonight they pretty much dominated. Anyway, Excellent Senior Day, regular season-ending game and very happy for this team heading to the post season.
We are alos perfect when l Seeing Doug Shows reffing the Bama versus Barners game gave me hope for a well officiated game. Nope.
Keeping tab of the SEC season results: #7 Missouri & #6 Kentucky are the only two SEC teams that Florida had lost to in the regular season - 0-1 against both of them. It's interesting that the Gators could face each of them in the quarterfinals & semifinals, respectively. Florida split the series (1-1) with #11 Georgia & #4 Tennessee and swept #16 South Carolina (2-0) in the 2025 season. Against everyone else in the SEC, Florida is undefeated for this season: #1 Auburn (1-0), #3 Alabama (1-0), #5 Texas AM (1-0), #8 Ole Miss (1-0), #9 Arkansas (1-0), #10 Miss St (1-0), #12 Vanderbilt (1-0), #13 Texas (1-0), #14 Oklahoma (1-0), #15 LSU (1-0). Good Luck to Florida for the SEC-Tournament!
I thought our defense was outstanding last night. I also like our draw. Miss St and Missouri have been in a tailspin of late
Interesting. That wasn’t what was shown during the game. Wonder why things changed since the Oklahoma Texas game was the only SEC game left
With our physicality, the refs feel sorry for the teams we play. Rueben gets called for fouls when others mug him. Last night the hook and hold was a great example that the refs are watching him and not the mugging going on every game we play. Rueben is someone even Lebron, wouldn’t want to be going against, LOL.
I didn't read the thread because I was watching the game, but was anyone else annoyed by the announcers and Lunardi talking up speculative rankings while the game was going on?
For waaaaaaay too long. Yes. And most of it was about teams other than the two that were playing. I'm sure I'm just jaded, but it seems like UF still gets no respect from the pundits. But read through r/collegebasketball and opposing fans of the top teams all openly worry about us more than anyone. Probably because fans watch the games. We pass the eyeball test. UGA and Mizzou games just drag us down. We're susceptible to losing to weak teams is the narrative. Nevermind that those two teams were playing great ball when we lost to them. We shoulda beat them so there is something truth to it.... Don't matter. Just beat who they put in front of us
Granted but we had 13 nonconference and 18 conference which were against 8 top 25 and I believe 4 top ten teams - two of which were number 1 at the time we played them and 1 on the road. I believe only 4 conference games we played were against a non-tournament-bound team- LSU, South Carolina twice, and Oklahoma or Texas (one of those will probably not make it- my guess is Oklahoma). While nonconference is important it pales in comparison to the conference schedule where everything hangs in the balance. And in a conference with 12 teams making the tournament
The issue is that the teams we’re often being measured against Bama, barn, TN etc. played really tough non conference schedules along with the same SEC schedule.
