Bats quiet against good pitching. Good outing from Red. Many, many LOB. Key mistakes on defense cost the game. Atrocious officiating. This isn't a championship level team at the moment, particularly without Rothrock. They still might get there. Will be interesting to see what pitching does the rest of the series.
Ava Brown hitting is in a bad slump, DJ has lower back and arm problem. Wonder if there is a connection.
Ava is not totally in a slump. She is below expectations. She is coming out of it. Give her some time. She has fire in her gut and hates to lose.
Nobody truly knows but CTW said he doesn’t think it’s serious and she’s day to day. That said I don’t think she traveled to Texas. Hopefully it’s more precautionary than anything else.
I didn't know where to post this link, but thought the softball fans might appreciate it most. Way to go D J Lagway! https://247sports.com/college/flori...ns-sports-international-womens-day-246685838/
Shoutout to Ava who I think pitched great today tbh. If she can keep it up like this the rest of the way, plus Red and Rothrock we will be tough to beat.
It is not how you start, it’s how you finished. Ava proved that today. True fire and grit. And her teammates had her back. 4hrs (7 rbi) a triple (rbi) and a 2 rbi single.
Ava was brilliant despite the zone and the team played complementary softball with some hiccups. Overall I’m super happy and excited for the future of this team!
Okay so I was watching the replay of the game and I noticed a celebration Falby does after someone hits a homerun is that she seems to grab their bat, wave it in the air and tap them on the head with when they get to home plate. After the second Walsh homerun, it definitely seemed like she was hitting her kind of hard LMAO. I am assuming Walton is okay with this celebration, but hopefully she is more careful with is just cause everyone can react different to it.
As much as I love our more standard uniforms Kendra is in charge of outfits and I’m wondering when she’s going to break out the pinstripes again
Last year it was the favorite and lucky uniform. I’m guessing she was saving it for SEC play. I think there is a good chance we will see it today.
I thought the umpire was consistent and good, much better than the guy in game 1 who was all over the place with his strike zone. All of those balls in the river of the right handers box should have been balls. I'm not a fan of calling close pitches that are balls as strikes. Give credit where credit is due. The aggie hitters have a good eye for the strike zone. They did a great job laying off those balls in the river.
