If we take care of business on senior day I think one of those top overall seeds are ours. A lot of ball to play but barring a one and done exit in Nashville I think we get a 1 seed!

If Houston loses a game at all they don’t deserve a one seed. They should NOT be a lock at this point. I would say the same about Duke but I can’t see the media allowing them to not take a 1 seed even if they lose 2 out of their last 3 (Carolina and then go 1-1 in the ACC tournament).

I think as long as we win Saturday and win one in Nashville it’s locked in. Conceivably lose 1 of the next 2 and Tennessee makes it to Sunday in Nashville we could still be a 2.

Yes. Frankly, the Gators should be #1 overall with two victories over #1 and two HUGE road victories in AL.

I'm wondering about Houston . . . They have a very good Q1 record, but lost to Auburn and AL. Gators beat both . . on the road. No way is Houston's SoS harder than UF's. They are good, no doubt, but they don't play in the SEC. UF should be #1 or #2 in the nation. Based on real games, it should be UF / Duke / Aub in that order.

our biggest rivals for a #1 seed remain in the SEC

beating Ole Miss Saturday especially after they beat Tennessee will go a long way, but as others mentioned a win Friday should do the trick.

Alabama needs an upset at Auburn Saturday to remain in the discussion

Tennessee has USCe at home Saturday and should they make it to the SEC final, they may take a #1 seed should we lose either Saturday or Friday.

After the win last night and IT loss, there's no reason we shouldn't be a 1 seed today, beat ole miss and it's a lock.

The SEC tournament didn't change seeds last year, we thought we had a shot at a 5 seed, then made a hell of a run in the tournament and ended up a 7 still. Even if Bama or UT were to win the tournament I don't see them getting back on the 1 line.

Bama could end up being a 3 seed if they lose to Auburn this weekend and then go 0-1 in the tournament, 4 straight losses to end the year. Which I think is more likely than them beating Auburn and winning the tournament.

Glad Ole Miss won tonight, not just because it likely gets us a #1 seed in the tourney. It was senior night for them so maybe they gave it everything they had and will have a let down on Saturday. You know our guys will be pumped on Saturday and the O'Dome rockin'. I like our chances. On another note, fans storming the court after beating a 4th ranked team is a little ridiculous.

Houston’s Strength of Record (SOR) is second nationally (ours is third). They are also ahead of us in all the analytics sites. Neither voters nor computers are enamored of our non-conference slate. But it should be sufficient to get a 1-seed if we beat Ole Miss.

Agreed. At minimum it will level the playing field emotionally. They played hard last night. It was their "Super Bowl".

So who are the 3 other #1s?

Auburn - insane Quad 1 record, their Quad 1 is almost as good as Duke's ACC record
    Duke
    Houston
    ???

We are currently #2 in the SEC and if we take care of business will finish 2nd, get a 1st round bye in the SEC tourney. Tennessee losing last night to Ole Miss, who we finish the season against certainly helped us. Now if we falter either against Ole Miss or in the SEC tourney, then watch out for St Johns to take that last #1. They just won the Big East and although their Quad 1 record is horrible, do have 4 losses all by one possession. Rick Pitino is a name nobody is discounting. So we just have to take care of business.

NET says it's between us and Tennessee at the moment, but St Johns is ranked 19th in NET, so very doubtful they take the 4th #1 but the committee has been known to blow the bracket. So if not us or Tennessee, then who else? Alabama is behind both teams and they just lost against us at home and they go on the road to Auburn to finish out the season. Then there's Texas Tech lurking behind Bama, the Big 12 champs. What if all 3 of us lose our final season game? It's possible that Texas Tech could be in the hunt for the last #1. If we beat Ole Miss and win at least 1 in the SEC tourney, we have a good case for the last #1.

    I said this yesterday:

"AU / DU are 1 and 1a. UH is #3 overall.

The 4th #1 will almost assuredly be Bama, UF, or UTk.

If Bama or Florida close out the regular season 2-0 and win a game or two in the SECC, then they could slide into a #3 or possibly even a #2 overall depending on what those current top three do. Particularly if Bama does it, as that means they beat AU

If Bama and UF both go 1-1 to finish up (a strong likelihood) - the path is there for UTk to get the last 1 seed."

Bama can still beat AU, have Florida lose to OM, and with UTk's loss last night - they could possibly make it.

UF beats OM and they're probably in. Only some blowout loss in the first SECT would derail that.

UTk has USCe at home to wrap things up - so that's likely a dub. They'd need Bama and UF to lose and also make some noise in the SECT.

Lots of moving parts. THe SEC could have as few as one 1-seed and still as many as 3.

I need to critic sports articles now because these AI-generated articles are always wrong. I read an article last night discussing the 1 seeds and St Johns and Texas Tech came up with Texas Tech as the Big 12 champs. I forgot Houston is in the Big 12 and they are 4 games ahead of Texas Tech and won the title last week. So no way is Texas Tech even in the mix, no frickin way is the committee going to pick 2 Big 12 teams over the SEC. So it's going to be us, Tennessee and Bama for the 4th #1 seed. We haven't locked it up beating Bama because Bama finishes their season at Auburn. Tennessee is the team that will be sweating it out because they finish at home against SC and it won't help their case if they win. Tennessee has to hope both us and Bama lose and they win. Still, it's very possible the SEC tourney decides it.

Why is UT even considered for a #1 seed? They are 11-6 in the league. We are 2 games ahead of them. Bama is 1 game behind us in the league and 3 games overall behind us. No way either of those teams should get a #1 seed over us.

Team Rankings again was spot on last year with our 7 seed projection, if I'm not mistaken. Before the Bama win they had us as a 2 seed, moved to a 1 last night after the win and UT loss.

Thats kinda my thoughts as well, I think it would take us losing Saturday and going 0-1 in tournament for either of them to pass us. Thats assuming Bama beats Auburn and wins more than a game in the tournament. UT will probably beat usce, but I think they would need a deep run, probably win it to get the 1 seed. Again, if UF takes care of ole miss Saturday I think its locked up.

Plus the Vols started the year much higher rated in the eyes of 'experts' than we were. People tend to confirm their prejudices.
